Cleared HVAC Knobs
Anyone want to do mine for me. Like I'll send them to you, you clear them and then you send them back. I'll pay for shipping and labor.
Or does anyone want to sell me some that have already been done or just some new ones that don't have wear or tear on them? This is low priority I'm looking for price quotes and possibilities. Also note, if you plan on offering to do them (you MUST be a trusted member of the community) I don't wanna lose my knobs .Last edited by iApex; 12-13-2008 at 09:11 PM. |

Clearing is easy..boil water, drop them in, wait for the rubber to loosen, then peel it off.

wow, never herd of that. I almost feel like your joking with me
![]() I read on that one site with all the other tutorials that you have to use a heat gun and all that retarded crap. but hey if your serious about the boiling water thing. Thats a whole lot easier to do. Last edited by iApex; 12-13-2008 at 09:15 PM. |

It wasn't that easy on mine. I boiled the crap out of them and the cover still would'nt come off. You have to consider the source iApex.

I will say this, I got tired of my cleared knobs..the red didn't really go well with anything else..So I got some knobs out of a buick regal, black...much nicer looking IMO. |

I'm going to look for some of the black ones when I go to my folk's house for Christmas. If I find any extras, I snatch them up. I snagged some from a different car, I think it was a Neon. They were black, circular and had ridging like a quarter, and a blue light. I thought they would work but they were opposite of ours. The damn indicator was pointing downward when I put it on...
. They looked really nice though.

9360784 heater and a/c knob for the blower switch, or the a/c control mode.
9378178 heater and a/c knob for the temperature. That's an exact copy from the email they sent me. |

Well the first one I did came out fine, and it only took about 15 mins I just put it in for 5 min intervals and pulled as much as I could then put it back in.
Now as for the other two, the next one came out decent, wasnt as easy to get all the stuff off but still got most of it, and then after trying to 30 mins solid to remove the left over rubber with mineral spirits, I gave up. The last one came out the worst. 30 mins of boiling and i still could only get 1/2 of the rubber off the damn thing. ![]() Before I wiped it down with mineral spirits. ![]() One on the left is the best one, Middle is the Second one and the last one is the Third one which you can clearly see turned out like poo. ![]() ![]() The finished one that came out the best. ![]() Last edited by iApex; 12-14-2008 at 01:55 PM. |

soaked #3 in nail polish for 2 hours still no difference so I tried to use goo gone and toothpicks... nothing, so I used a lighter. that turned out REALLY bad
. *Note to all reading this thread* Do NOT use an open flame on your knobs. So basically I'm out 1 knob, one is near perfect and the other needs a little bit of work. |
