Whoever it is, ignore him, he's probably clueless about cars anyways.

Most Knowledgeable GT owners around here will agree that performance wise aside from a different gear ratio, the only difference ie the "ram air" intake which doesn't do much if anything.

Same car, same engine, different body kits and exhaust tips . So don't worry about it.

The GT is more about the style than a performance advantage over the SE

This is supposed to be a performance FAQ thread guys... not a ask questions thread or shoot the sh!t thread. If you don't have performance info to add, please post somewhere else.

Can we get a mod to clean this up?

Talking Performance

im sick and tired of stock parts on my ga se.Yes I have an SE but its silver with a handful of mods already, plan on tintin the windows, getting it lowered. I have a weapon-r dragon intake and fron strut tower brace, just got dual-halo projector headlights on it, I must say getting those headlights has made my car really stand out from all the other ones in my area.
But I was just wondering about some performance mods that I could do for it. I already plan on getting the exhaust replaced, then a stage 2 chip, but after that I am kinda lost as to where to go with my car.
Can anyone help a brother out and tell me what my next step should be as far as performance goes?

...chip? do you mean tune?

read the first post in this thread for ideas, it'll give you all the basics, where to buy, and at what price. we'd just be repeating to you what is already in front of your very eyes.

Wow, cool to see the old thread still alive an kicking - I'm glad somebody with the current information was able to go through and bring it back to life. For anybody that is interested, my wife now drives the GASE that sparked me to write this thread, and it still sports TOG headers, SLP cat-back, and a DHP tune. The CAI has been eliminated, the gains were minimal, but the winter cleaning headaches were quite real. That car now has over 160,000 miles on it and is still running good. Although we no-longer drag or auto-x it (upgraded toys) it still does regular import shut-down duty for my wife. Tranny still gives a strong 1-2, and 2-3 shift, and the motor pulls about as good as it used to, although the valve guides are wearing and starts usually result in a wee bit of oil smoke - not enough to require adding oil between changes. The fuel pump is on the way out, but other than that and some balding tires and blow speakers (I'm not kidding, my wife drives the hell out of this car) she is running great.

ya, GM's claim that the ram air and special dual exhaust give the GT a 5hp and 10 lb ft of torque gain is questionable. if you want a true ram air setup look at the Firebird Trans AM WS6 package or a Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

The GT is all about excessive use of the body ribs.

I want to see a detailed list of the useless mods and gimmicks, such as a Granatelli MAF and TPS enhancer, and WHY they are not worth the money. A while back I posted about the Granatelli MAF and 3 people told me it was worthless without telling me why.
Us noobs need to know what NOT to invest in.

I suppose someone could take the time and do that. Problem is there is always some lame brain that will come in and say "nuh-uh I noticed a difference with xxx product..." but they never dyno tested it. The information is out there if you run a search because I know I and several others have provided detailed explanations for them before... but yeah, it would be easier if it was all in one place.

that's my point. all that info should be here, not scattered on various posts so us noobs who do search don't ask a question that may already be answered somewhere else. you gotta realize how big this forum is! if all the info is front and center it would eliminate a lot of frustration for the posters and the moderators.

Not enough to make a difference IMO maybe 1HP.

So, i read the topic regarding an L67 swap, and the general consensus that i seen was that it wasn't worth the countless hours of trouble and money. I had recently thought of doing this but figured I would check and see if it could be done first and if it was worth it. I had also recently found someone willing to trade my 1996 Honda CBR 900RR for his L67. So, instead of doing that, I'm gonna get start getting the parts listed here. But just a quick question, how much boost we expecting at most approx?
