Modding never stops!!

Ill tell ya, When you think your done, you always find something to change or to add. In this case I started one thing and it led up to a full weekend frenzy...

made newdoor pods

I always wanted the radio to look more factory, so I fix that probem by doing some mods to the bezel...

Just about everyone puts a guage in the vents,, I like my music and going for the right sound is key to any system, So i put a center channel in there instead.

Here it is completed

My door now till i finish what i have to build..

Pretty cool Chris. That center channel sh1t is definitely different.

So, what are you going to do w/ the doors? Make different pods from the last ones?

Looks like you did quite a bit of sanding on the radio bezel. Did you use a textured spray paint on it when you were done?

Looks like a 3 way component setup in the making?!?!? Did you mount the 3.5" hertz mid in the air vent? Looks like an interesting setup. I'm intrested in seeing what you do with the crossovers.

Yes I did, I also put a few coats a satin black so it has a nice texture and look.

All the crossovers are in the back with the amps. Ill be taking pics of that setup once im all done. The speaker in the grill raises the sounds stage and makes it have a fuller sound.. I didnt belive it at first. but I was playing around moving it in diffrent places. That spot was the 2nd choice. The first choice was where the vent is on the dash. Now with the speaker there you cant tell where the music is coming from.

I'm not sure if you ever seen my webshots but i have some pics of a diamond 3 1/2 speaker i modded to go in the center air vent. I chose to remove the vent all together since the speaker was to large. (link http://good-times.webshots.com/photo...81416094DcLnNG ) I dig the vent though you can't really tell the speakers in there unless you take a hard look. Do you plan on running 5.1?

It's a 7" woofer in a somewhat sealed pod. I didn't want to make it completely sealed box. The pod sounds better then the door since it's more of a sealed enclosure. I recommend a pod over mounting the woofer in the door unless your going to the extreme to seal the door. This would require a little more then just dynamat maybe fiberglass mold to seal the door then mounting the woofer to get the tight mid bass sound. The cool thing about making a pod is that you can angle it however you want for the sound stage. When i built my pods they all line up to the center of the car for a good overall sound and alignment. When i built the pods for my 3 way setup it was to harsh for rock music since the woofers were angled at the driver and passenger heads.

Its funny that u say that cuz at first i did have them in a seal pod. They didnt play as good.. those 6.5 are playing around 45 to 50 hrz..they didnt like being sealed at all. When I put them in the door they came to life. I dynomated both skins of the door. I have an 8 inch speaker of that same version that im going to mess with. If the 8 works out good then ill finish the door up and get that done. I even started to redo my trunk again.. I just changed the design a bit. Overall the same setup, just the floor and the back wall is a little diffrent. I even did behind the seats the same windows that I have maped out....

On the 7" setup i placed a port by the handle away from the woofer that goes behind the door panel. The fiberglass insures no rattling and the door is complely dynamated behind it. I noticed when i went from my complelety sealed dual 6.5" setup to my single 7" setup. That has a small port i had a more deeper tone to my sound and it tended not to sound as harsh. But then agian i went from a 3 way setup pointed at my ears to a single 7" setup with a more practical design. Post some pics of the new setup i love to see a system build in progress.
