Turbocharger

I did a search through the forum on the subject..

My question however is... Iv heard of people puting them on GAGTs. I have a 99 GAGT 3.4ltr v6 w/ ram air. I was woundering if any of ya'll had actually done it and what one to get. I thought about getting a supercharger... but thats too much$$ and im a broke mofo. But a turbo setup is in my range. Any Ideas as to brand/model? Thanks!

Jaysin:

Do a search for posts by user "homegrown". You are looking for a thread entitled "Boosted Alero around Detroit". He has a custom-fabbed turbo setup on his V6 Alero, and he stated it has cost him somewhere north of $4K to get everything together.

A S/C is much cheaper! Expect to pay $3K at a MINIMUM for a turbo install if you do all the work yourself.

yeah, it depends on the quality of the stuff you use to, if you go with all stainless tubing, Spearco IC core, new turbo vs. used, Aeroquip fittings and SS braided line, stainless T-bolt clamps, chrome plated brackets/linkages, etc...the price gets driven up real fast!!!

I'm fortunate enough to have the hookup on a brand new turbo, anything I want brand new from turbonetics for less than $1g, to some extent. T72 in the range of 600-700, its nice. Buddy of mine did his turbo kit on his z28 in his garage for less than $2000 and his car is stupid fast now
Turbos are FUNNNNN!

i dont think that a SC set-up would be in your price range either. my set-up came out to over $5k w/install. but if you look at it this way, you are going to spend a lot less than you would with a turbo. turbo will give you higher boost levels (if you tranny can stand it) and a sc less boost. your choice. forced induction isnt cheap, but worth it imo

My turbo is only gonna be around 5-6 psi. A turbo is actually better for your tranny because the power comes on gradually and not all at once like your SC

but I agree that it isn't cheap. My bill keeps getting bigger and bigger.

I'm shooting for something more along the lines of 8-10lbs...

No one ever said I was shooting for 5-6 psi I'm just gonna run that for a while just to get things running fine. I'm gonna gradually build up and shoot for 15+
