Wow just finished Disabling my DRL for my 2002 grand am gt1 using the sunroof fuse.
If any of you still consider doing this I recommend saving alot of time to do it. I consider myself really good at wiring but it sill took me an hour and a half. It really was a pain to lay upside down over the back and passenger seats. You really have to maneuver yourself to get to the Wires and they are really short. REALLY SHORT I even soldered both them and it was a pain. Have fun to the people in the future. |

actually for me, i have an 02 gt, and i just snipped the blue wire, and grounded it. didnt have to do a damn thing to anyother wire. and the wires are not short at all, just go further up to snip it, and then add wire of your own. took me max of 15 minutes and that was finding all my tools and going inside and out. not a problem at all and no svs light ![]() thx! |

15 minutes is a little bs if you ask me. Im a built guy and 6ft tall. Unless your a midget or a weak kid there's no way you took 15 minutes. Especially if you soldered it.

well lets see. im 18, im not a midget, or weak - dont see what any of that has to do with how long it takes, plus ALL I DID was find the bcm, take out the plug, snip one wire, add some other wire, ground it, reattatch the connector and replace bcm. barely 15 min. so just because your "built" and 6 ft tall shouldnt mean a damn thing. id say maybe max of 20 min still for you if you just do what i did

Am I reading this right? You were able to disable your drl and figure out a way to replace the parking lights as the drl's? |

Negative ghost rider.
I screwed up due to vague directions. The parking lights were always on in that configuration.

Are there currently any kits available for disabling DRL's? I do not want to hack up my wiring, so I am just curious if there is a kit made??

There used to be a kit available some years ago. From what I have read and heard the kits we're decent but still required some "hacking of the wiring" A 2nd generation was in the works the be more plug and play but I don't recall it ever happening.. Due to the price and limited availability, this is why this How-To came to be. I thought about building a kit a couple years ago but I didn't want to put in the R&D and take on the potential liabilities of selling an aftermarket product that has potential legal and warranty consequences.
