Meh, I know this is a car site w/ car enthusisasts so Im probably a minority on this one but Im not really interested as much as I was when I was younger in spending money on a car that will be worth less a few years down the road. Im more than likely will go w/ a 4cyl Altima/Accord. More interested in investing money on my house now more than anything.

Something with 4 doors to cart all our **** around in...TBSS, Escalade, or Cherokee. Still have another 18 months til the lease on the ladies Ram is up, so we have some time. Ideally I'd love to park the coupe and pick up a CLS in a year or so, but that can wait.

Heh,I sorta know what you mean. I don't really care what my DD is, nor would I mod it. But having a car on the side as a hobby isn't a poor investment IMO, if you enjoy working on it and driving it on weekends.

What do you guys think about a GXP Bonneville? There is one parked down the street, and I think it's a real nice looking car...

Besides, Toyota's are for women.

I don't need it for offroading. I'm not a fan of putting huge tires and lifting a truck, which seems to be the "popular" thing to do. I need it for interior room, hauling, and the 4-wheel drive. I also like the 381 horses and the 0-60 times of around 6.2 seconds...not to mention I like the looks and features of the truck.

I'm not quite sure where you're getting your information about Toyota coming in last place and having major recall issues. The only "major" recall I was aware of was for the '00-'04 Tacomas for the frame rusting, which Toyota offered all owners 150% of the retail value of the truck towards a new one. Chevy, Ford, and Dodge have had their fair share of recalls in the last 6-7 years or so. The Tundra's 5.7 liter engine was new in '07 and there were a few glitches that were fixed for '08. Let's not forget those commercials we all see that are true. More efficient transmission, lighter-weight aluminum block, header-style exhaust manifolds, amazing towing ability, stop-on-a-dime braking, etc.

Through the research and comparisons I've done, the Tundra is equal to or better than most of the half tons out there right now. Plus, I think it's a much smarter financial move to get a used Tundra for around $25,000, then be able to trade it in 5 years later for $17,000. I worked at a dealership when a guy brought in an '05 Dodge Ram he bought brand new for $42,000. Just two years later, he tried to trade it in with only 25,000 miles on it and we offered him the most out of four dealerships at $16,000. The others quite simply don't hold their value as well as Toyota. If you still have the mindset of "I'll only buy American-made vehicles." The Tundra's final assembly IS in the United States.

A year or two ago, they had serious sludge issues with their engines, and were refusing to replace the engines under warranty... I'm pretty sure there is a thread on here about it, even.

Toyota's Reliability Crashes

That's it there. It was an article from Consumer Reports. I find CR to be crap. Especially from working in home theater at Best Buy and seeing CR rate a Toshiba LCD much better than a Samsung... complete crap. I only read the expert reviews. The ones by the consumers are not screened for demographics or anything. Plus, if you have problems with a vehicle, you're much more likely to report something about it than if you have no problems at all. Toyota has a reputation for building quality vehicles and they're thrown under the bus when they have even the slightest problem. I think we all know the expensive "problems that should have been recalls, but GM didn't make them recalls" with the Grand Am.

The engine issues only happened in two specific ones. The sludge problem existed mainly in the Camry's older V6. It has since been fixed in the new model. The camshaft problem in the Tundras was in the previous generation's 4.7 liter V8. It was a good engine with a bad cam. They put it in a small percentage of newer model '07s and '08s, but I believe the 4.7 was scrapped for the '09 model year. I read Toyota has stated they are updating it in order to offer it as an option in the new generation 2011 Tacoma. A V8 Tacoma would be in competition with the Dodge Dakota.
