Do you have any personal experience with Toyotas? Not just "my mom has a '96 Corolla and it sucks." You still have yet to explain exactly why they're for women, too... hmm...

I just find it amusing to have a half ton pickup that can run with Mustangs, Si's, and other moderately quick sports cars. Keep in mind this thread is just for sh*ts and giggles. Opinions and random rantings are encouraged.

You drive a Grand Am..another car for women..you're gonna lose this argument.

Just compensate like everyone else and get a GTO..

You're right, no one would buy a GTO because they like the way it looks, enjoy the comfort and power, and like having a car that they can have fun with.

I almost bought a 07 3 when I bought my 6.... but I just felt like it would be another plastic-y car in the end. It was decent all around, but overall a very "meh" experience driving. I prefer to enjoy my driving machine.

Not too bad looking, decent power, but the FWD would kinda suck with that much power. I haven't driven one, however.

I also like the 381 horses and the 0-60 times of around 6.2 seconds...not to mention I like the looks and features of the truck.

I'm not quite sure where you're getting your information about Toyota coming in last place and having major recall issues. The only "major" recall I was aware of was for the '00-'04 Tacomas for the frame rusting, which Toyota offered all owners 150% of the retail value of the truck towards a new one. Chevy, Ford, and Dodge have had their fair share of recalls in the last 6-7 years or so. The Tundra's 5.7 liter engine was new in '07 and there were a few glitches that were fixed for '08. Let's not forget those commercials we all see that are true. More efficient transmission, lighter-weight aluminum block, header-style exhaust manifolds, amazing towing ability, stop-on-a-dime braking, etc.

Through the research and comparisons I've done, the Tundra is equal to or better than most of the half tons out there right now. Plus, I think it's a much smarter financial move to get a used Tundra for around $25,000, then be able to trade it in 5 years later for $17,000. I worked at a dealership when a guy brought in an '05 Dodge Ram he bought brand new for $42,000. Just two years later, he tried to trade it in with only 25,000 miles on it and we offered him the most out of four dealerships at $16,000. The others quite simply don't hold their value as well as Toyota. If you still have the mindset of "I'll only buy American-made vehicles." The Tundra's final assembly IS in the United States.
This was posted on here awhile ago go down to Durability Video Toyota didn't do well. Obviously your going to do what you want however I'm not a fan of the Tundra now the Tacoma that's a different story and probably one of the few Toyota's i would buy. Also your resale value on a Tundra is a little off Take in mind Gas will go back up 4 Bucks a gallon. Thus making your resale value fall off. There is a reason most People buy Ford,Dodge,Chevy Trucks regardless if they use it for play or work.
Ask yourself this How many Tundra's have you seen with a 6ft-8ft plow? That should tell you something about Power and Durability.

Last time i check if you have 381HP and weight almost Double a Stang/Goat whatever your still not going to outrun it.

I would buy a 5-10 year old diesel pickup you get the higher mileage and loads of power, in fact some of them could beat the mustange and they weigh in at over double.

There not that Great. Dad has one. Sits in the Garage instead of buying a Actual mid-life crisis car he buys this. What ever its his Money. It only has about 6k on it.

Its nice and all but nothing beats a V8 RWD.

The GTO may have had a good engine and interior, but I just don't like how it looks. The G8 is so much sexier and better all over. If I went that route, I'd get a G8 GT or GXP and call it a day.

Funny that you mention the plow thing, cuz I just saw two Tundras with plows on them today. Not to mention the gas well pad I was at today (I do surveying and computer work for an engineering company), three of the four head honchos for the gas company had Tundras. The other had a Chevy dually diesel. I have most certainly looked into the Tacoma, but I think it's a little too small and underpowered for what I need it to do. Residual value is really high though. I drove my company's '08 Chevy Silverado today. It's a VERY smooth ride, but the power doesn't seem to be enough and the interior materials seem cheap. You are right about the weight issue in the Tundra, but the truck still performs with low-6's in the 0-60. The Chevy would be lucky to get 7.5-8. The Tundra may not BEAT the Mustangs and whatnot, but it would certainly RUN with them. This is a good discussion, though. I appreciate everyone's input.

I just did the same KBB inquiry for an '08 Dodge Ram with the Hemi and 20k miles on it. Stickered for around $32,000 new and it's now worth $15,000. That's over a 50% reduction in worth in ONE YEAR. A similar Chevy Silverado stickers at $30,000 and is now worth $17,000. So I think I'd take a drop from $35k to $24k with the Tundra anyday. Of course, if gas goes back up, all pickup owners are screwed anyways.

hmm lets see, well the alero is a weekend/strip car, just got the final 500 bravada, have the 03 corolla for beating around, 600f4i while the alero is down, now I suppose in a year or two, my new vehicle purchase will be a nice 03-05 GM pickup, probably duramax, and an attaches 20ft enclosed race car trailer.....

Have you seen the guy's movies? Not exactly the smartest cookie in the batch. The guy is funny and all, but I'm not basing a huge financial decision on what Larry the Cable Guy would do. Otherwise known as W.W.L.C.G.D. That reminds me, I need to change that picture...

This is a thread about what vehicle you'd like to get after your GA. That's it. I"m sorry that your "Toyotas are for women" arguments aren't holding too much ground right now. Let's meet in the middle. I don't want a ****ing Tundra. I want a ****ing Suzuki Aerio.

Let's go ahead and spark the conversation back up...

Does anyone have any experience with the late model Subaru Legacy GT? I'm not talking the regular 2.5 liter 4-banger, but the one with the turbo. I've seriously considered one of those as well for the AWD, the performance, and better gas mileage than the Tundra (which seems to be the truck of choice for women.)
