Oh snap, that is true. I overlooked that. I've heard an aftermarket on 4cyl GA, and imo it sounded pretty good. I couldnt tell you what muffler or the exhaust setup was.

what would happen if you would put a flowmaster muffler into the stock setup would it sound better or do you actually have to replace it all to acheive the louder sound

Coupe has the above combo on his car, sounds mean as ****. When I went up there two years ago he would have people stopping him at every light to ask about it..

One day when I have a job and money..I shall finish off my exhaust with S&S headers and hi flow cat.

Ask MN crew, they've heard it on mine, and Chi crew has heard it when it was Joes car. Little raspy at high rpm, but sounds great otherwise.

alright the sound clips were a great help but i am having trouble finding an 80 series flowmaster for the ga however i did find the 80 series for a firebird is this the 1 i would be using, and i found a magnaflow catalytic converter on e bay would this add to the sound i am not planning on putting headers on yet but i am removing the resonator i am going for the deepest sound i can get for around $400.00 installed

yep, that is the one. they are both the same. they didnt make it specifically for the grand am, so you wont find it that way.. but application wise, it works for the grand am..
