Not to worry about me. I am basically a GM man.

I've had 2 Hyundai's and they went to sh1t. I've had 3 Pontiacs and 1 Chevy. The wife has had the Satty and a Sentra.

I am in my late 20's and it's time for me to get something "nice", but I definitely want some more power than my GA.

I dunno about reliability of those 2 cars though. If I am considering those 2, it is gonna be a hard decision.
I'm in the same boat. In my mid-20's and I'm gonna be looking for a nice vehicle, too. My wife has her "nice" car and it's time I get mine. As can be seen earlier in this thread, it'll more than likely be a truck.

Excellent choices on your vehicles. Acura did many updates to the TL for '07, and the A4's latest model is much better than previous ones. The AWD is a good thing, too. Are you against the new TL? Amazing features and hp, but that front end is a little hard to look at.

Honestly, it's getting harder to specify them as american, japanese, swedish, german, or any other type of vehicle. Body parts come from one country, engines from another, and then final assembly in another. A lot of people are going to the companies with japanese origins like Honda, Toyota, and Nissan, but a lot of their construction and business is done in the U.S.

Next "fun" car will be a 05-08 Lotus Elise. That won't be for another 5+ years though.

Both the TL and A4 was heavily redesigned for 09 I believe. When I am looking for a new car late this year, I will probably only look at 07-08 ones so I won't have to spend as much. I don't like the headlights on the new A4 and the new TL...there isn't anything on the exterior that I like.

there are actually some reason behind them being broke, the current car lineup isnt one of them.

Im reading a book called Why GM Matters, and it talks all about it. I suggest you read it if you want to go around talking about how they dont build cars that people want.

to sum up the book (for at least as far as ive read), Gm was created in 1908 and was completely haphazard. there was NO organization until Rick Waggoner came in and started to reorganize. it wasnt til the 80 that they tried to copy Toyotas manufacturing model. 2005 was a pivotal year, they got HAMMERED by healthcare costs.

They both were, yes. I do like the new A4 a good bit. It's nicer looking IMO and I think the features are better. I wouldn't say I don't like ANYTHING about the exterior of the TL. It seems to be lower and sleeker. The rear end is a little funny looking, but that front clip is gawd awful. Everything they've done to improve power, fuel economy, luxury, and driveability is great, but they messed up on the styling. The 04-08 TL's were much better looking. They were understated, but the body lines were sexy. The updates done in 07 just made them better. And the Type-S? Fahget abaaat it!!!

Honestly, I didn't either at 17. I hated Civics, Accords, Camrys, Lancers, etc. Thought they were r*ce-bucket POS's. I wanted to go "American" all the way. However, after working at a Honda dealership and getting actual driving experience with foreign makes, they're better vehicles IMO. The ride quality, handling, and structure is superior. Acura's Super Handling AWD is as good or better than Subaru's or Audi's. I don't know if you have any actual experience with Honda, Toyota, or others like them other than simply seeing them, but you should really check them out for yourself. Drive a few, and if after you do, you still prefer GM, Ford, Dodge, etc., then you've certainly made an educated decision. I can respect that for sure.

I am offended! Next car for me will be a G8 GT or a C5 vette depending on price and spousal approval. She needs a new one first though. Looking at a 03 + J body right now. Later on we are planning on finding a v6 CTS for her. She wants AWD and comfort and I won't buy foreign so its a pretty narrow list of options.

While I did over simplify the problem, there is much truth to it, Yes I know the unions have a death grip quite possibly literally, on them they spend so much in employee benefits that they can not put as much into the car but why is that the case if they had not tried screwing the workers unions would not have gained a foot hold. Then on top of that bad management and the fact that they failed to produce cars that people were willing to buy it all adds up.
And yes I love american made cars, of 10-15 and 20 years ago, today they are just blah blah bland. With a few very notable exceptions, Corvette is still doing well. I love Camaro's yet I would never own 95 or newer, well not likely to get a 71-81 either though. The Concept Camaro and possibly the new one they have planned on selling might be a revival of the Camaro though.

Are you considering the TL and A4 as well? If you want the V6, the A4 is going to cost you more, and I don't know if I can live with the 4 cyl turbo. They aren't that much quicker than our V6 GA's. TL is definitely a better car for the money. And we know Honda and Acura makes reliable cars. IMO, Audi's reliability is still questionable. I am not a 100% sure if I like the Type-S. If the 2-tone seats and black rims didn't come with it, I would like it more.
