Component System Needed!! halpmeh
So I've never done anything with components before or aftermarket tweets or anything so I need help deciding what I should get. I like to have good punch from my base but not enough where it drowns out my music. I also don't have endless cash, and I can't give an exact budget, but whatever is the best for the money. Last thing; I'm going to get a whole system later on and I want it all to match, besides the subs ofc, but I want a good brand that I can get the same series speakers later.

Pick up some MB Quart separates.....since they have changed parent companies, you can pick them up cheaper on Ebay. Always had Quart, always will. The set in my S10 rock every day.

quart is some excellent stuff no doubt. if your on a budget i'd recomend brands like boston acoustics, pioneer premier, kenwood excelon, quart, and diamond audio.
all of these brands can be bought cheap at www.woofersect.com

okay what size do I want? i have the metra 6.5" speaker adapters lying around here somewhere so I could get 6.5's but i read somewhere that 5.25's are better? what's the scoop on that? and do I need brackets for 5 1/4"? or will those fit in the stock slots?

Hmm okay well I was looking a lot and ive been researching speakers off my ass for awhile, and I went into a couple audio shops and listened to speakers too, to compare different brands etc..
I decided I'm going to get these: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=6133 Then later I'm going to replace the rears I have now with these: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=6143 And lastly, to amp them: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=6251 Input pleaseee! |

Those Polk speakers are good. 5.25" speakers are recommended over 6.5" because the deeper speaker might hit the window when it's coming down, which could crack the glass or break the clips. For good yet cheap speakers, check out Phoenix Gold RSD 5.25" or CDT 5.25" components on eBay, the PG are around $70 now, and the CDT are $100 shipped. The PG sound good, haven't gotten a chance to hear the CDT speakers yet.

Front Stage
http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/re...ers5-rs5a.aspx Screw the rear Amp http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/performanceca31.aspx Subs link First, this would be a very fine sounding system....all matches and you wouldnt be rocking the same thing everyone else has!!! ie JL, Kicker, and, dare I say, Infinity!!! (and sound better) |

Diamond Audio FTW! I got the HEX 5 1/4 & 6 1/2 component sets in my alero and the TDX 10" subs. sounds crystal clear and the tweeters are ear piercing loud.

You could also look at what I have for sale if you want a good amp/sub to back it all up, and save some trunk space in the process..

Okay so Diamond is the majority vote here? I decided my budget is about 600 for front components+rears+amp.

i dont know if diamond is what we all recomend, but i think most of us agree that diamond audio makes some really good stuff. i'm guessing you dont have a diamond audio retailer in alaska which blows, but i'm yet to hear anyone say they dont like diamond. they make really good sounding quality stuff.
for $600 plus the amp, here are the comps i would recomend. there all excellent speakers so you really cant go wrong with any of them. Diamond Audio S500s http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=1136 Boston Acoustics Pro50 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=1077 MB Quart QSD213 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=1214 Pioneer TS-C520PRS http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4986

Okay I decided on the Diamond S500s, I found them on eBay for $190 shipped!
So what should I get for rears to match them. I need to get some that can handle 150 watts rms right? And also amp too... Last edited by DefaZe; 03-06-2009 at 11:45 PM. |

elemental designs is still having closeout on their 2 channels....at work so dont have time to link up for you.
Still wouldve stuck to the DLS speakers over Diamonds.....diamond just not what they were 10 yrs ago(like a lot of companies) If you were gonna spend that kind of money couldve moved up to the MSA's The eD 2 channels are good amps, good power, and cheap. I already made my mind up on the Diamond S500s, but thanks.
Okay what about this amp. It's like the cheapest amp I could find that would provide full power to these components. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=300294182034 Last edited by DefaZe; 03-11-2009 at 04:21 AM. |
