205/55 r16 factory?

Alright i need to buy some new tires so i went to the tire store. so My car has 205/55 r16 when i bought it and i wanted to get the same size but when i went to the tire store they said they would not mount the tires because they are not the factory size. So what i was wondering are they an optional tire size from the factory. Because i personaly don't want the 225s because they cost way more and they are a higher tire.

That size is not very different from a stock, take it to another shop that one seems silly.
Though for summer you really would be better off with stock size, better grip and handling.

If they would put the same size tires on that has different speed rating or load rating then what does it matter they seem strange.
I would put better tires on with a better speed rating myself.

You want to put a lower rated load rating tire on a heavier car ?

well i pretty much looked everywhere and everyplace was up in the $500 range for the 225s and the 205 were cheaper like 400 range. But sadly the best place was fleet farm buy three get one free and free mounting, balancing but they sad no to the 205s. so i might just have to get the 225s. are the 225 that much of a difference compared to the 205s.

Yes, depending on the tire/rubber.

Especially on dry pavement.

You are mis understanding what I am saying, If the shop will put a 225/50/16 on that does not have the correct speed and load rating but will not put a 205/55/16 that does have the correct speed and load ratings then I would not take it there anyway.

225/50/16"

At least H-speed rated.

At least 91 load rated.

But that is just me

does brand really matter, or if it has the speed rating and load rating it should be a good tire depending on the warranty that they give you

The brand & more so the model matters.

But it depends on what you want; & what you want to spend

If it was me: Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position

(I have the last generation RE950's.)

or

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3

But people know me as a tire snob too

& I have winter performance tires too.

But since you live in the MN...

May I suggest:
Nokian WRG2

or

Nokian WR

or

Goodyear Assurance TripleTred

These are the best all around non-performance tires.
& they are also premium priced; but worth it IMO.

PS: Almost anything is better than the stock Goodyear Eagle RS-A's LMAO

& cheaper too.

PSS: Here is a tip too...

Keep the tires more than 30 psi minimum.
It will handle, ride & wear better IMO.

I like 34 psi front/32 psi rear minimum cold tire pressure.
