Would you do it?

My grandpa has a 98 Aurora with the Northstar 4.0 V8 in it.. only 81,000 kms oddly enough the gas mileage ratingis only like 2-3 mpg different even though it has about 70 hp more than the grandam gt.

he is goin to a home soon so they are selling it and i could likely pick it up for 5-6 g's canadian..

I am sure i could sell my car for 7-8 grand up here because it is likely the nicest grandam in the city and only has 108,000 km (2000 yr)

now my question is.. would you rather have a stock aurora fully loaded with leather sunroof and power everything with 27000 less kms that has been old man driven and babied

or

a 2000 grand am gt with a warbird hood, painted interior, CAI , smoked windows all around, guage cluster and other custom interior andexterior mods etc etc.. nothing major just a staight nice clean looking grandam..

I have been pondering it and have to make a decision soon.. The 16" aurora mags would have to go and i would throw some 20's on as they look good on them cars..

but i have no clue if i should back date 2 years to a 98 to that car or not..

lookin for some opinions i guess..

pic below is of a 98 auorora with 20's so you can see what it somewhat looks like(plus id smoke the glass i hate clear glass haha)

Cheaper insurance, new car to mod, stock reliability, and lower miles. I vote to go for it.

well ya they arent as sporty but i am 31 now and half my friends are like 6'3 and over 200 pounds so the grandam isnt the car of choice for road trips haha..

one of the things that have crossed my mind.. aurora looks like a more ritsy car and looks way newer than its age but the grandam looks alot sportier and gets more looks but i dunno

That V8 is a solid engine, but a gas hog.

ya i know its called tint People do refer to it as smoked windows too though.. The headlight covers i have on the front were referred to as "smoked" headlight covers and "clear" headlight covers in the book they were ordered out of here.. they werent "smoked" either i am sure.. its just a term shoot me haha

and no just 4 doors they have.. there was a buick riveria that looked very similar to this that was a 2 door though maybe thats what you are thinking of.

dont those buicks have the supercharged 3800?
and so which way are you leaning on doing this?

well honestly i have not ever had a problem with my car.. never fixed a damn thing on it other than i blew the PS pump because i was stuck in snow like an idiot haha and the LIM issue i fixed when i first learned about it.. other than that.. 8 years ive had the car and not spent a dime on it in repairs other than those 2 small things.

the aurora is a nicer car inside thats forsure.. it was like 36 grand american back in 98 when it was made .. has a bigger more powerful engine and more options.. Just kinda hesitant to give up a car that has been so good to me as far as never breaking

i dunno.. likely one of them things where ill be damned if i do and damned if i dont i guess haah

the extra hp won't do much for you if you put some nice and big rims on it..as i doubt you would want to do anything that could risk damaging them. So keep that in mind when deciding whether you want it for the power or something else..
