That setup looks pretty nice. Which FPR is that? I was thinking if I do this in the future I might switch to the LT1 unit.

Not that it was really needed for my application but I did a returnless fuel system as shown below. Opens up options for regulators and fuel flow should be close to double since both fuel rails are being fed.

Are there any known downsides to that type of system?

I have found no downsides other than the initial plumbing costs. Some of the benefits include increased plumbing, routing, mounting and regulator options. In addition to greatly improved fuel flow, this setup also returns the excess fuel to the tank before it has a chance to be heated by the fuel rails. Drag racers could also opt to install a fuel cooling unit between the regulator and fuel rails for a cooler charge. |

The FPR is not usually configured like this. I'll also have to take pressure readings at the fuel rail test point, and compare that to what I get at the FPR. ![]()

The performance section is pretty dead so I figured I would resurrect an old thread.

Did you have any problems with the fuel system being setup like that? I had been planning on trying a similar setup and I was just curious how well that worked out for you.

No problems from a performance standpoint so far. With the new regulator and Racetronix/Walbro installed, pressure has been rock solid under boost, seems to have more power, but I won't know for sure till the track opens next month. There is a chance it could affect emissions -- after a bit of a hot soak, the fuel rail stayed cooler than the surrounding IM metal ( ) -- but it can easily be put back to stock if need be. I wish I had tried this before changing from the stock fuel pump. My biggest concern is still these damn Walbro type pumps. It is working good now, but when we had some record-breaking warm days here lately, the pump's "sound" got louder. I am still working on an in-line as a back-up system.

Haha, the 2001 canister won't fit the '99. The problem is none of the OEM replacements they have available now are as well made as the one that originally came with the car in '99.

haha that's cool. Made a cut out for quick fuel pump access huh? That's a pretty good idea.
