Anybody ever find a part number for that trim ring? I got mine out once successfully to paint the plate, but I took it out again to paint it a different color and the sucker broke this time. I guess if I can't find a part number I can get one from a junk yard, but that would cost more since I'd probably have to buy the whole panel switches and all and those are expensive. It's that or glue the sucker in there permanent.

I'll have to see if I can find one. When I had to get my window regulator fixed (driver window stopped working), the dealer replaced the ring free of charge.

umm bumping a completely dead thread... but does anyone know to put the inside of this back together?? I took it apart just to look at it because I was interested how the twisting thing worked, etc, and when I popped it apart like 15 little pieces shot out of nowhere and I now have no clue how to reassemble it.. Anyone??

You probably can't put it back together. It started out as one piece.

This has bits of paper to show where it broke

I put a wire tie on it.

Sounds like you might as well get a new one from somewhere.

Kids....

Dont' feel bad. When I was putting the WFG on my HVAC, I toom apart the heater controls for some reason and parts flew out of that. It took me a bit to figure out how sh1t went back in..

Sorry there was apparently a misunderstanding. I meant the electrical components inside of the switch assembly, not the mounting hardware. I popped those tabs off on both sides that you can see in your 3rd picture, and it all came apart. There was 3-4 springs, 3 copper "arms," a black piece of plastic, a white piece of plastic, and then the circuit board...

And yea I did the same thing with the HVAC too PL Took me a while to figure that bastard out..

Try a couple of ebay searches. Try using "Grand Am switch" and "Grand Am mirror". Sometimes you can get the door panel that has the window switches for less than the switch alone. Should be around $20.

I'm going to have to try that Jim. I had a piece break completely off that's basically the size of where the paper is on your pics

The switch has a gangsta lean to it now...

Mine was broke when I got my car and I took it apart and rigged it backed together with some intuitive thinking. If I had it off I'd post a pic of what I did to keep mine from falling through. Basically, I made myself a clip out of a piece of metal coat hanger and bent it all into the shape I wanted and drilled 2 small holes for each side of the clip to fit in. It fits very nicely and is still removable if I need to take it apart again. The whole little project took me about 10 minutes.

If anyone's interested in the pic, let me know and I'll go pop it out and snap a pic of the fixed "clip" attached to the panel.

Does anyone have a part number on this? Mine just broke today.

I know I'm bumping an old thread and all but this is what I could find.

I would definitely check with the vendor to verify the part numbers as the listing I have is quite old at this point...however the P/N I have are:

2003 Mirror Switch = 22624805

For the retaining ring part, it's only sold together with the 'switch panel'

2003 4 door = 22663005 (Power Windows)
2003 4 door = 22663003 (Manual Windows)

2003 2 door = 22663006 (Power Windows)
2003 2 door = 22663003 (Manual Windows)

Actually I went to the Chevy dealership today and they ordered just the retainer clip for me. They pulled up a diagram and showed me the part. It cost me $4.99, not too bad
