96 GRand AM center consol being redesigned what ya think.

alright well i got tired of the old stock style center consol in the 96-98 grand ams so i am in the process of rebuilding mine. ive got rid of the upper sh*t holder, and all the cup holder the rectangular shifter hole(remember my car is a stick shift) and made it a 3.5" circular hole. i added a 3 gauge pillar to the upper part of the console and im moving the ebrake back nad addin a honda civic brake handle set up so i can get handles and boots for it. i already remover the bottom half of the dash bezel from right under the temp controls i didnt like that stupid cubby hole anyways. so the gauge pod fits in fine. id like some out put on how you guys think it will look. its goin to be all one piece once im done there will be no taking it apart once its all done and over with.

ive also did a 4 gauge pillar. i need all these gauge cuz im gettin ready to drop a whole rebuilt motor in the car and it will be built with a turbo and reardy for alot of boost. so the gauges are all needed. well at least to me.this isnt done either just kinda pop rivetted in and gooped.

is the center console completely new or are you using the stock console as a base to build off of?? reason i ask is because i am trying to find the top half of a center console from a 96-98.

I think they look like good projects, what gauges do you have, I seen water, I am assuming a boost.
the tach being way down seems bad, as its not within easy sight lines while watching the road, but it being such a large tach should make up for it.

ok couple of things here

1) please for the love of god get all of the same style gauges. i like the set up cuz i love gauges but if they are all differnt makes and colors, it will look stupid and tacky

2) speaking of tacky, correct me if i'm wrong but you already have a stock tach in your gauge cluster. so why, OH GOD WHY, do you have r!cetastic tach.

3) the work doesn't appear to be half bad but i know its a work in progress and it looks good so far

overall i like the project and can't wait to see it done

"there will be no taking it apart once its all done and over with."

what if something breaks or needs attention in your shifter? Might want to have some sort of way to get to everything.

the tach in my stock cluster is no were near acurate thats why i have it plus yes i have it for the shift light.

the only gauges that are workin at he boost/vaccume gauge and the a/f ratio gauge. the water temp gauge is the only different one the other 4 are the same just the rings are different. doesnt matter tho cuz im sellin all of them 250. the tach and the other 3 gauges are faze color changing gauges all work fine just dont feel like hookin up the tach wen i keep takin it off and on all the time while im workin on the center consol so its not hooked up. the water temp is an autometer aluminum gauge i want 15 for that.

the center consol can still come out fine just is all one piece just unbolt and pull out.

i used the whole thing sorry i might be able to find my other one if you want one bp's97gagt. ill let you know if i find it name your price just pm me.

It wont look bad once its glassed. **

Though having your tach down there will keep ur eyes off the road which isnt necessarly a good thing.

** - if your not glassing it then i concur with previous post

What!? Yes it is

Your tach is in the worst possible spot why do you want to look down by the shifter to see your tach? and its a 16 second grand am at best you don't need a shift light speed racer

the shift light is for only when im racing so it tells me that im right on 5500 rpms. and its not a 16 sec ga, its a 14 second. for now till i get the other turbo built motor done. and no my stock one if extrememly off, i know my buddy has read the computer while running the car and he said my tach is badly off.

its down there cuz i have no where else to put it. and i can see it without lookin down heard of peripheral vision. i can see the tach fine i done look down at it. i dont need to stare at it to see it remember its got the shift light so that when i am in need of the tach to be acurate other then that i can shift with out any tach i can tell my my motor.
