How wide can I go for drag purposes?
What size tires have you guys fit on the stock 15" X 6" steel wheels? The reason I am asking is that I have 2 of them and I am thinking about putting the BFG g-force t/a drag radial on in the size of 225/50/r15.
Any other suggestions on sizes/ possibly other tires? Thanks. P.S. Stock axles and transmission.

did you use the 225/50/15 on 15 X 6" steels?

I think 225 maybe pushing it. Our stock 16's were 6.5 wide and the 225's filled them up nice. You are going for a rim a half inch narrower, so i would think the 225 would buldge over the side a bit..but a quick google shows some people fitting 225 on 6" wheel with out problems.

OK, I got the rims, just need the tires. Any other suggestions? I'd like to shop around before I buy, I need something nice and sticky.

I drive a V6 H.O.

The BFGs are plenty sticky. I have seen a 14 sec GA bog down off the line because it didn't make enough torque to combat the traction/stickiness of the tire on the track. Well a good prepped track that is.

Quick question. I have a line on a great set of BFG drag radials 205/50/r15 for very cheap. A little narrower than I would like, but do you guys think these would work out well?

Dont buy the 205s. Go with the 225s. Its going to cost more, but you are doing it right the first time.

Used but in good shape. $170 for the tires. 225/50/15. I completely vouch for him, he is a great member of the Alero site.

I fit 8.5inch wide slicks on the stock steelies. I wouldn't say it's the safest or the right thing to do, but I did it, and it worked. Track officials freaked out and thought I lost the bead a few times, but I marked the wheels and tires, and never had any slippage, from examining the marks.

IF you have nothing else at the time, and they are VERY cheap, they're better than stock, but it gets scary at the end of the track....

Yeah, I think I am going to stick to the 225/50/15's I planned on running. I really need them I spin all the way through first gear and partially through second. Even with feathering it off the line, when I punch it 25-30 feet out, it still spins. This should greatly improve my times.

Hey you guys with the drag radials, how are you storing your tires? Inside/outside, do you treat them with track bite? what?

you don't have to treat them with anything. Store them nicely when not in use, indoors.

OK, thanks. What happens if you store them outside in the garage?
