Exactly, I would prefer a RWD platform for tracking. Better launch and running I would think, Though I could be wrong.

i think any car is worth madifying if its what you like !!!

people have all different tastes and veiws on whats worth something or not.

alot of people it is just their nature to mod what ever car they have to be original.

so i guess it really depends on what your expectations for that car is. if it is possible and if it is, is it obtainable?

I agree.
I will in all likely hood never track my grand am, that does not mean I wont mod it. Heck appearance wise I already have. I want to do the camaro brakes, for both appearance and functionality, and I am doing CAI and PCM and quite possibly other things later that will help it perform as well.

I'd like to see a 'stang with only 2 grand into the engine beat either of those cars. Educate yourself more before making stupid comments like that.

A car that can smoke the tires on a dyno is pure evil incarnate; hell hath no fury like a Grand Nasty.

Personally, I'd mod this car just for the sake of doing something different. Its not so much that the engine doesn't return the mods placed on it...after all a set of headers will put you up 20 HP easy. Compare that to say the Rx-8 where headers, intake, and cat back exhaust will net you maybe 10hp or so whereas the GA you'd be pushing 40-50. Regardless its more that there isn't the after market.

If the Grand Am had the aftermarket of the GP/3800 crowd we'd be in pretty good shape and 12 second cars would be more common. However, any way you toss it you're still starting with an economy car not a performance import so a certain amount of work is necessary either way.

looking back over what i have spent in (cai, full exhaust, tune, perf springs struts etc etc) it really isnt worth it. i mean sure it definetly drives better and responds better but there are better cars for modding. i have kinda hit the limit as to which i care to mod money wise. i'd rather not start dropping 1000's of dollars in parts and still have a semi slow car. id rather save up for the WRX im lookin to get soon. 14s stock with 13s not hard to get. plus a 3rd pedal

I'm lazy right now and don't feel like typing so ill keep this short. Investing any money into a car besides repairs and maintenance is a waist of money and that's all their is to it no matter what the car is but some people like me simply don't give a damn because it's what we want to do and that's all that matters.

You just get to a point of diminishing returns with modding anything. The thing is, you need to know when to stop. IMO once you are done with the bolt on stuff, its not worth doing too much more to these cars, especially if you dont do the work.

You get to that point in every vehicle you modify. I like how you never accomplished anything with your grand am. Whats that worth to you, knowing that you are posting on a forum with grand am owners when you have no experience other than buying parts, only to sell them for a loss? Like I said, I have no idea why you are still here, let alone posting in a section you care nothing about.

If your into your GA simply for racing then you bought the wrong car.

I love my GA and its almost always underestimated by every retard with a fart-canned civic.

Pontiacs WERE good cars before the "cheap now good stuff later" mentality hit GM take for example the crappy LIM gasket they put in and the tie-rods and u joint, no grease fittings.

things like these are good for a companies bottom line but not for the consumer.

bottom line and the answer to your question is. "If it's worth it to you then do it otherwise buy a crapmaro or rustang and "fit in"

i keep my parts pretty basic so that way when the car is done i can take those parts out and sell them. i don't want to go into a big build or what not with tons of motor work and fiberglass everywhere. i like my car to be a good driver that won't be terribly hard to demodify or sell when the time comes

I suppose as long as you know when to run and when not to run you'll be ok

but there are way to many faster cars out there e.g. 99+ Celica GTS 5 spd, Subaru WRX,

im not saying the GA is slow just that it is slowER

Don't dismiss this thread quickly Ben..at first it could turn negative towards your business..but I also see lots of user feedback that can help. Prices were mentioned, interests in other V6's that have performed well were mentioned..etc..keep the ideas flowing and let the discussion continue.

You can buy fast or build it and someone who buys a fast car has nothing on someone who builds one.

Anyone who thinks all they have to do is install a few bolt ons to have a fast car shouldn't be modding a car at all.
