I am just replying to your posts. What is an ideal car to mod? One where you can knock 3 seconds off the baseline E.T? Or room to upgrade appearance / accessories?

That sounds a lot better. But it....just....wasn't....FAST.
A platform with a better aftermarket is a start. Parts for the GA were made by few companies and were expensive for what they were.

I recall when you (IIRC) were complaining about being in the 13.x's
12.8-seconds is impressive when you have 235 tires & lack of traction
Now it kind of makes sense, 235 tires

& here I am complaining about my 245 tires
Do you easily break the rear loose sometimes, driving with 235 rears ?

I am surprised you haven't went with a staggered set-up with like 245 fronts & 275 rears (or greater).

PS: Your fast Cavalier sounds mean

I had the fenders cut completely and now have a 235/275 staggered setup. I still spin, but considerably less. I can at least keep the pedal planted during my 1-2 shift. It will still make a nice long chirp, but with the 235's it would keep spinning after the shift. I haven't been to the track with the new setup yet.

True, I guess it's all relative to what you are willing to spend. The 3.4 isn't exactely a legendary engine though It's like modifying a Prius, sure it can be done but in the end it's still a Prius

Not necessarily like Aaron mentioned their are right modifications and their are wrong modifications. All it takes is a little knowledge and you can have a pretty decent build for fairly cheap.

I know that dual and even quad turbos will get you impressive #'s but the problem is getting the setup right.
I read about a 3/4 ton doge cummins that does the 1/4 in 7 seconds he has over 60lbs of boost from idle to redline.
Have you ever wondered why twin turbo supra's remove the initial set up and go to just one?

Because it makes for less headache and larger horse power. Your logic is flawed.

Have a good day.

Thank you for your wonderful insight
Seriously though a twin turbo'ed supra is probably running one turbo for half the cylinders and the other for the other half. which is not what I was talking about.
I agree about the headache though. Getting multi-turbo's running is going to take more effort and in the end may not be worth it as Nick has already pointed out.

One turbo feeding another and hitting 60 psi?

Gasoline engines don't take too kindly to that stuff.

361 hp and 385 lb-ft at the crank

(Note: the newer 2009.5 GT versions are: 355 hp & 384 lb-ft at the crank.
They added secondary cat's to them for better/new emissions standard.)

Thanks
