follow SSRacers method the 01 and 02 are the same, and if you want to not have the auto headlights at night you would just take the light sensor out and replace it with a 10k resister. Or put the resister in the bcm connector contacts. A3 and B2.

This is only for the DRL disable on a 2002 (and whatever other years are the same...2001 I think).

This is the BCM still under the dash:

This is the BCM after I slid it out of it's holder, the middle connector is obviously the one we are interested in:

Here you can see the two wires. The brown (spliced to white) goes to power, the blue (spliced to black) goes to a ground (the other side of the cuts are just taped off):

There is not much wire to work with, so it's a bit of a pain.

Another pic from the back to show the wire locations (ignore the speaker wire):

The white wire that I attached to the brown goes to the sunroof fuse:

Hope these help some of you out.

Can someone confirm this for me. I have a 2002 Grand am and if I do the mod with cutting the two wires and grounding the one and running the other to the fuse box to disable the DRL's and I DO NOT do the mod for the ALC can I still turn my headlights off by turning on my parking lights?

Thanks

Yes. If you override the DRLs using this method it will not affect how your headlight switch currently works at all.

i ran my wire to a diferent spot so i didnt have to add any wire to it

Man, I'm lucky to have an 03, I just yanked out the relay for the DRL.

day time running lights are a safety feature included for visibility. why would you turn them off? for looks? too much work for something so stupid, here's a clue. key to "on" click to middle lights {] [} symbol then start the car and then turn lights off....DTL will not come on till dark

Having the headlights on ALL the time is one of the reasons why the headlights fade. Especially useful if you have aftermarket headlights. Also, if you're running HID's they need to be deactivated as well.

For starters, if you install HID headlight in your car the DRL's sending low voltage can cause serious damage to the new lights and their circuitry. Also, if you have aftermarket lights like mine where the high and low beams are separate bulbs it does some pretty odd things with the two bulbs when the DRL's are on, trust me.

if you buy aftermarket lights and they are not fully compatable w/out serious alteration to your car then dont buy the crappy lights.

agreed, also looks like he has the ones that you have to take a dremel too to even get to fit in where the stock headlights go..

Yes, I did have to modify my car slightly to make these lights work...please explain how that makes them "crappy" I have not had one single issue with them since installing them. I don't consider anything that I did to the car to make these lights fit and work a "serious alteration".

My aftermarket stereo required more "alteration" to the car than the lights did, I guess it's crappy too.

Maybe we should all just drive around in our cars absolutely stock and not change anything at all. Who needs those "crappy" aftermarket parts that require "serious altercation" to our cars anyway. Give me a ****ing break.

DRL's are pointless, they used too be effective, of sorts.
However with everything people get used to them and they soon stop seeing them.

OK so i thought my drl disable worked great but when i put the car in drive the next day the SVS light comes on

i grounded the dark blue wire on the middle connector
i changed the ground and know its a good ground bcuz i tested that the bolt was grounding and put it in drive and SVS again.

i meant to post this 2 weeks ago but kept forgetting and i cant remember all those pages i read then

off the top of anyones head for the 2001 gagt is there anything I'm not doing that i need to?
