I found this on cars.com today, this is the first time I actully think that hood looks good on a Grand AM, its a little pricey, but its a nice car. I love the carbon fiber interior parts, but I'm not diggin the batman and hotwheels gauges haha |

On a related note, there is a 2000 GA w/ 102k miles on it for sale locally- has rims, exhaust, stupid AVS deflectors everywhere and clear tails.... and the guy wants $8k for it. People are frickin crazy dumb.

There has certainly been some cash dropped on that car. The installs are all clean and I'm sure the owner had good intentions. I would have done the SD hood instead with BLACK HOUSING projector lights. The tails are black and the headlights are chrome. The white gauges with the Hot Wheels and Batman logo are total idiocy. The body kit is actually pretty decent. It's not insanely ugly like most are.
The murdered out theme just wasn't carried through. The gauges should be black and the carbon fiber look is just not good on that car. The rims are ok on it, but they could be better. Parting out would have been the way to go. As has been stated, nearly $14k for that thing is WAYYYYYY out of the ballpark. You'd be lucky to see $10k.

^^^ '99 Accords and Civics (which hold their value WAYYYY better than a GA) with similar mileage go for $5-7K. I have a '99 GT coupe with 135k on it. It's in excellent condition inside and out and has been meticulously maintained. New tires, brakes, front and rear bumpers, springs, water pump, and alternator, oil changed every 3k miles, LIM taken care of, washed and waxed regularly, lightly modded (intake, exhaust, audio), etc. Clean title and I'm the second owner. I'd be lucky to get $2000 on a trade or $4000 private party. That's even high. If that dude thinks he's gonna get even half of that $8k, he's crazy.

I hear all of you on this one. It breaks my hart that in 2000 I paid $32,500 for mine(Took me 6 years to pay it off). Have put over 20K into it, and Id be lucky to get 5-7 for it right now.... I just spent almost 4K Canadian a month ago, so 20 dollars US... hahhahahaa... on having the block put in, including the trip there and back too though. And all I did was take the car there and sat in a hotel for 3 days while it was being done. I just got a 500 dollar phone bill from the trip calling my wife and daughter 3-4 times a day! That was unexpected, believe me
It's the price of modding guys. If you mod as an investment, you are in for a really rough ride... it is for you and you only. Once money is spent on mods, consider it gone! Parting out is the only chance you have at getting a small portion of your money back on it. |
