If anyone knows the best place to pick up a scoop hood, let me know, and I can judge from that pricing whether I can actually afford it with all other necessary repairs (will need a hood no matter what) ...

Really, they said you need a rail assembly? That's what I had to get for mine (passenger side frame rail) as well as the upper tie bar, and a new sub-frame, as well as all new A/C and radiator, head lights and panel, 2 new fenders, new hood, etc etc. This was mine after the accident.

You can see what it did to my frame rail and bent the sub frame straight up.

Good looking ride. Best of luck with the repairs. Curious, what kind of exhaust is on it? Doesn't sound stock to me in that sound clip.

I can't honestly say I know, but I DO know it is a cat-back system. I can always try and find out. The thing I love about it, is that it isn't anything ridiculously obnoxiously loud, and nothing like the ricers have (you know, tuna-can mufflers), its something that just makes my ride purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Unfortunately the parts he wants to sell he also wants stock parts in trade as well (at least that's what I gather by reading his posts), and my car's sstock parts are wrecked...

I would love those parts he has, but as he stated in later posts, on top of the pricing he asks for, the shipping costs would kill me...

Ok, so here's some of the parts I know I need that I have found online. Let me know if you guys think these are the best prices I will find, and any other suggestions.

Looks to me like all that stuff would work. I'm surprised they actually sell the upper tie bar online since most people can't install that them selves. It has to be welded on just like the frame rail, so most of the time the shop doing the frame repair just orders it. Might as well let them get it unless there is a big discrepancy in price. They can probably get it shipped to them much cheaper from a local parts warehouse anyway. $45 to ship a $16 part, there's kinda no point.

Ok, so after a good friend of mine gave me a heart to heart, I have been pondering whether it is actually economically feasible to repair my GAGT, or to part it out, and put all the money I have towards a new car.

I like the newer GTOs, and was considering maybe getting an '05 or '06 GTO. What reviews are there on them, and would anyone recommend/not recommend me getting one??

Lol, that's a risk I am willing to take.

SO, does anyone know if they're alright, as I only personally know of one person who has had one, and he had it for 2 years before trading it it, as he hated it, and had a lot of issues with it, so I am somewhat leery.

The reviews I find online don't seem to be owner testimonials, so they cannot speak for long duration ownership and "testing", if you will...

Some people love 'em some people don't. I think they are pretty good cars. Especially if you get the 04+ model with the LS2.

Personally I don't see how your GA is bad enough that it would cost that much to fix.

Well I would still look around for deals on them. I am actually thinking about getting one myself, I just hate how it seems the designers got lazy when they modeled the back end. That and not sure how safe it is to get any newer Pontiac made cars unless GM is going to support anything aside from the G8.

Don't you read the news man? You can still get any pontiac serviced at any GM dealership after pontiac is gone. By federal law they have to provide parts and service for cars to 10 years after they stop production. There is no reason not to buy a GTO or any other used pontiac.

You'll have to forgive my bit of distaste and distrust of the news and major companies

Well, so far as I can tell, I DON'T believe the frame rail is bent or damaged at all, but the radiator is pushed back, and doesn't seem to be leaking. So the upper Tie Bar needs replacing, and the mount that the fender runs back on is damaged and needs replacing. I will know better when I get the bumper and fender off.

I have some pictures I took with my phone, just have to get them uploaded.

I also wanted to possibly start fresh, something with a little less mileage, even though my GAGT runs nicely, but it IS up at 140k. I also wanted something with a standard tranny, and I think it wouldn't be cost-effective to transition my GAGT from auto to standard, although it would be friggin' sweet!

The Insurance totaled my wifes car mainly because both the airbags blew. They gave me 4700 for it and I bought it back for 300.

And aside from cosmetic damage, what else needed to be repaired, and how much did it cost to be done?

The cosmetic stuff I can more than easily manage (bumper, hood, fender) but the mounts for the fender and radiator look like they will require a bit more than I can manage (i.e. since I don't have the tools etc...)

See I like the look of this (if I go GTO):

If I stay with the GA, here are a couple of "different" Ram Air hoods I have found, yet to decide which style I like better:

Ram Air Style #1

Ram Air Style #1

Ram Air Style #2

#1 if you want a more subtle look or #2 if you want it it stand out more. I'd go with #1 myself but I have not seen many GAs with #2 on.

You made out pretty good. Back when mine was wrecked they gave me about $9200, but I owed a little less than $4000 on the car so that was paid off, $500 to the dealership that did the inspection and estimate, so I was only left with $4700 and they wanted like $1300 for the salvage title so I only had $3400 left to fix my car with.

Oh those hoods listed, #1 and #2 are the same style hood. #3 is hideous and I would never put that on a grand am.
