If you have spots...Spot Shot works great with a clean towel.

keeping carpets clean is one of the biggest pains in the a$s. lets face it, in order to keep it clean you have 1 of 2 options. put a whole bunch of floor mats or something to cover the whole carpet. or dont drive it.

cleaning carpets is also a pain. usually you end up in a ackward posisiton trying to keep a impossible to a impossible stain. the best thing to do is put some carpet cleaner down on, and let it soak for a few mins. then take a srub brush and go to town. then get a shop vac and get all of the cleaner out. then repeat until the whole d*mn thing is up. i worked on a coke stain for about 2 hours one day and finally got it all up. the carpet looked like it had been burnt before i touched it.

you can buy a brush to put on a pc, so you dont have to do all the scrubing yourself. which is something im going to invest in.

there is one good thing about carpets though. and thats 90% of the time you can get any stain out of the carpet. unlike paint that can be screwed up beyone repair, you can usually bring carpet back from the pits of hell.

This will be the last winter for my current carpet.

I will be putting in a new one next year as soon as everything dries up and the snow/mud is all gone. Really for $120, if you think about it, I spend about $30 a year on carpet cleaning supplies, so, I don't mind putting in a new carpet once every 4 years!

Just trying to decide if I should order the factory grey color or a black carpet!

I use rubber floor mats to keep clean in all my vehicles, no matter how ugly they look.

Actually a good question.

I have some wicked big stains on the floor in the back....

consisting of wine and oil.

Besides replacing the carpet, has anyone had good luck with deep stains?

I use the woolite mixture listed by Greg in an above post. Put that in a spary bottle and wet down the area I need to work on and then scrub with a stiff brush. Once its good and soapy I rinse it off and suck everything up with my shop vac and repeat if the nastyness is still there.

Once you clean it keeping it clean is actually pretty easy if you clean stains as soon as you notice them.

Also having a no drinking or eating policy in the car helps keep yourself and your buddys from dumping soda and fries/ketchup all over the place. The only beverage allowed in my cars is water.

Lots of wisdom here. I have the same "no food" policy . Right when I got into car stuff I detailed the hell out of the car and found a huge soda stain one of my husband's friends left in the back seat. I was not pleased.

I wanted to suggest that the Bissell Little Green Machine is epic at detailing car carpets and seats. I bought a set of the Lloyd custom floor mats and they had accumulated some crude oil mud from street construction that was happening on my street a while ago. I used the Little green machine and the mats looked brand new again. The nice thing about the machine is that it's small so it allows for maneuverability. I used the machine to detail the interior I pulled from a junkyard and it pulled up soda and coffee **** I didn't even see. It was really worth the buy imo, and worth checking out.

Edit: I wanted to add that after I cleaned my show mats I decided I wanted to keep them in the car. Wal mart has a plastic, deep rutted, clear floor mat so I bought a set for the car; this works wonders because it keeps daily sh1t off my car and I can still see the Lloyd mats. Win win. The only downside to the plastic mats is that they smell REALLY strongly of plastic so drive with your windows down for a couple of days.

^^She speaks the truth I have the green Bissell Machine and it works wonders on floormats and seats, and hot water extractor machines work wonders but there way to expensibe, so a great alternative is to go to a grocery store, rent out a carpet cleaning machines so you could rent one out for a day and clean your interior and a few others and make some money back.

That's how I felt after the wife and kid left a huge coke stain in the back floorboards. I drink in there and eat only non messy stuff. Chocolate (unless it's a chick ) and burgers don't get eaten in there...

My Lloyds don't get put in unless I'm showing the car. The OEM mats stay in there the rest of the time. I have been thinking of getting the WeatherTechs though.

I tried using the Bissell we have and that didn nothing for the floors. I guess the stains were too set in. I kept getting a seemingly endless supply of coke colored water.. . ven w/ the big carpet cleaner I had. I just got tired of it and replaced the carpet.

Agreed, it can be very tedious to actually get a stain out using the green machine. The green machine solution you can leave in for a few minutes to set in which will help pull up the stains better. The old soda stain by my husband's army buddy still had remnants of the stain until I used the green machine and it pulled up the stuff that I was previously unable to clean out.

I'm jealous, when we got our car we didn't get any OEM mats. I was really happy to get the Lloyd mats because it made the bare floor have personality haha

Right after I got the clean machine it took me about ~4 hours to fully clean the junkyard front seats and the bench seat I pulled. Even after cleaning them several times since I had pulled them they were still very dirty until I used the clean machine. I was very surprised at how much the little machine was able to pull up, but it did take me a LONG time to fully clean the interior. I'm just super glad because everything looks showroom quality now and I didn't have to repurchase anything. Though I'm in the market for a new driver's seat because the side bolsters broke and it looks like a sagged wicker basket now. -_-
