I want something in 2000's but i know i don't have the money for something like that so i'm looking in the 90's.
If 5k is your cap then I would say keep the grand am and save your money. If you're broke then the stupidest thing you could do is get yourself into another car loan. Especially on an old car that may or may not turn into a money pit!

I've already put 5k worth of repair into the car, I'm not going to make it 10k. Simply put, to hell with the GA. i'm sick of going home once a month to a new problem with a car i don't drive. Hell i'll sit on my money and not have a car before i even think about repairing it. I will buy a $500 honda knowing it needs work and don't care how it runs. I know if I fix the GA it's going to keep breaking. so i'm not going to lie to myself and waste even more money on it.

Talked to the parents. Probably waiting until the beginning of summer/spring. By then my dad will be working and can cosign a loan with me to get something A LOT nicer and newer. So here is what i've been looking at

SRT4 (6 speed)
02-04ish STi
Evo VIII

those are the 3 i'm really interested in, any input?

SRT 4 = garbage, think DSM
good luck finding an 02-03 STi, and a 04 is a stripped down race car (no radio... etc etc)
id look into a WRX, it'll be your first performance car most likely, and with simple bolt on mods it keeps up with a stock STi, for less money and less insurance. I have 0 regrets with mine. and sure is a great car in the snow

evo 8s supposedly dont have the reliability the newer ones do (sort of)

Tons of SRT4's around here and they hold up damn well. never heard of major problems with them, unless its the jackass that dogs the **** out of the cars and goes extremely cheap when it comes to parts and tuning. honestly i have to say that the srt4 is top of my list with the subaru 2nd and evo last. and i have heard good things about GTi's. but thanks for the input.
