I think this will be the only way as Acts of God usually arent covered. They will need to nail the auction for negligence perhaps... it will be an uphill battle imo

I would guess the host... but I also see more waivers and terms that were likely signed.. ie: tent company is not responsible for damages as a result of using their tent.

The small guy is going to get shillacked in this I bet.

The only thing these auto auctions are good for is laundering money, plain and simple.

Individual policy holders will likely have to file claims with their own insurance providers. Their providers will then likely go after the property, the tent company, whomever. It is likely that the auction service has a "we aren't liable for any damage done" type proclamation when guests enter the property.

It is also likely that most of these vehicles were up to date on their appraisals, I would think, since they were set to be auctioned shortly... If not, well then it's the owners' fault and I don't really feel bad for them.

that may be the case, but they were negligent in that they did not remove the cars from the vicinity when a storm came through that the tent(s) could not handle...

Who said the tents couldnt handle the storm? Perhaps the tent manufacture should be sued, or just sue the following:

auction
tent manufacture
tent erectors ()
landlord / owners of the grounds
weather network
