ultimate speed

can you just somehow mod the gagt to put in a porsche trans or a bmw trans for that 5/6 speed power....

----Added 03-04-03----

or what about getting an upper and lower ported manifold, larger throttle body, stage 3 cylinder heads, borla exhaust, cold air intake, a vortech supercharger, an ASE Chip or some other chip to accept all these mods, and some other extra little gadgets. Wouldn't this make the grand am gt 300+++HP???

I think he wants to put in an aftermarket tranny from a porshe or t/a into a grand am. With such gear ratios to go faster.

Answer is you can do it but that would be like rebuilding your entire car. You cant just drop those trannies into a grand am since they are totally different.

Currently there is no aftermarket tranny out there for a grand am.

That config sounds close to Kman's setup...

But getting 300 fwHP is quite hard on our cars.

You'lll have to fab a CAI with the s/c but doesnt do much to help the S/C.

The Stage 3 heads from SA are up for debate latly. Search for heads and head work. I believe one good discussion was the RSM head thread.

For exhuast try to get something that wont contrict too much. You will still have bottle necks in your exhuast system from your manifolds to your exhuast tips. More likly it will be your downpipe.

Also you will be running lower total boost since you opened up intake and exhuast. But total PSI isnt the point when HP is. You prob want a smaller pully too.

With all that and about $6-10k later you could have 300 fwhp and a blown tranny

I dunno about the rest, but for my M62 it does, I noticed a definitive difference.

I've already spoken with someone privately about all of this. If I recall the answer correct, technically, all that money is pointless. What good are the heads and all that other stuff when the motor is only designed to flow and use so much?

I'd go with slp exhaust over the borla
the pipe is larger and it seems to be lots less restrictive.
also I larger tb with the magnacharger makes a pretty big difference.
head work should help with the sc, as well as a cam or higher ratio rockers.
guess I'll find out. but first the tranny needs to be addressed.

first, i think the grand am kinda sucks. It is a nice car, but there is too much bs about it. I love the body, but there are too many problems with this car. I would rather get something else that I can modify without 50 other problems. Second I would never mod my car cuz its just not worth it anymore. I would only mod a car that I bought used for less than $8k, and I would put at most $7-8k in it. The grand am is just not worth the trouble... and about my driving skills and the problems with my car, you peeps need to grow up...
