OMFG!!!!

people scream the same bloody murder with the 350z guy. they say that the DOHC is much better and more modern technology.

to them and you I say fine then dont do a swap like this. at the smae time, why do you try to argue it, the conversion was done, people wanted to see it and thought it was cool, nobody cares if you liked the cars original engine.

I can say that I love my LS1, with stock motor and only basic bolt ons, i have about 400hp/430tq at the crank (328/364 at the wheels), run 13 flat all day (on 2.73 gears), and get 26 mpg while normal driving. i am yet to see a mild rotary that could compete.

Now that we are on the LS engine swap, anyone have a link on what fabrication took placed to swap the LS engine on the Grand Am from that other website company that we can't mention here? I have seen pictures and video but I haven't found a threat with the build up and what parts they used. Anyone?

Edit: Well.. I'm not sure if it was a LS engine but I know for sure it was a V8.

I really never looked at this thread till now.

There are A LOT of stupid, clueless focking people in this thread. The only accurate info in this thread is that rotary's are maintenance whores and are much more risky at high HP than an LSx engine.

I thought you had these wheels nevermind.

Once my lease is over I'm probably picking up a 2006 GTO 6.0L Black and slamming it on these.

the flamboyant car used a much older TPI motor (about 150hp stock) but theirs was modified/supercharged. they claimed to some it had 750hp, other 650hp, i wouldnt say it had anything more than 400.

rumors were spread that they worked on putting an LSx into a grand am, but i never saw pics.

to put in the TPI, i was told that they had to move the firewall back several inches, and use a driveline from an IROC camaro. i would take anything they say with a grain of salt.

^yeah, I saw the car up close in person at a show in Detroit. They used an old 'vette motor, pre-LT1 actually. NOT the highest performer out there, even with a SC added. It didn't look like they moved the firewall at all, but they did modify the exhaust tunnel to fit the transmission. They had to swap the position of the brake calipers and steering knuckles on the hubs because the steering rack had to go in front of the oil pan on the V8, and of course they had to make a steering linkage extension and whatever subframe modifications needed for the steering rack, and engine/trans mounting. They put a fuel cell in the trunk since they had to move the gas tank. The rear of the car, instead of cutting out parts of the uni-body to make custom mounting points for the suspension (which would take some fabrication skill and engineering knowledge) they just took the whole rear suspension and sub-frame out of an Iroc Camaro and welded it to the bottom. You could see it all underneath the car just welded to the floor pan. Made the whole back of the car sit too high and had terrible fender gap on the rear wheels. There were so many other little details I noticed that just looked rushed, overlooked, or plain cheap/shortcut... it really was not the best put together car.
