Heck, he should be charging you for the paint which is included on it too.

$600 is a good price for a part which requires no fiberglass reworking prior to prep for painting. If it had damage such as a crack, or several cracks and chips which were more than just paint damage, $600 would be too much.

Heck, I have my original OEM SC/T hood sitting in my storage shed, waiting for repairs. I'm talking about the one the deer damaged. It's not damaged much at all. My friend at the dealership I took it to for repairs asked me if I wanted to keep it, since he knew it could be reworked, since my insurance company didn't want it, and since he knows these hoods are increasingly harder to come across. My insurance company bought me a new OEM SC/T hood as a replacement.
@ charging for paint

You're kidding, right? I bet you think that having mods on a car adds value too, huh?

If anybody honestly would buy a 7 year old hood for $600 when they could get a brand new one+ paint for the same money/slightly more....

But maybe in MY own opinion, its stupid/greedy to charge the cost of a new hood for a used one, in good condition at best.
Let me tell you, they can. I could have purchased the car back from them after the fact, and put whatever hood I wanted on it, but it would have had a salvaged title, further decreasing the value of the vehicle.

If a NEW hood costs $930, and this guy is charging $600 for a USED hood, then how is he charging the cost of a new hood for a used one?

Also, have fun "jewing" people down on their prices because you're too cheap to pay what the parts are worth, you cheap bastage! LOL!

You straight dumb, son.

Ignorance? Please. I've been dealing with parts for GA's for over 6 years now, I know what they cost, how hard it is to get them, and where to get them. Parts for a GA aren't "worth" much because the car isn't worth much.... it's a 11 year old platform that was only a $20k car to begin with. Hell, you could go buy a used car with a SC/T hood/spoiler on it for less than $5k now.... you're telling me a hood is worth more than 10% of the value of the entire car??

Also, nice racist comment

I was kidding about charging for the existing paint.

And tell me, where can YOU get a GM manufactured OEM SC/T hood for $600?

Odd, being Jewish is a religious thing, not a racist thing. Black people, white people, people of any color can be Jewish. It's not a racist thing, it's a creed. Get an education

Less than 5k? With how many miles?

I'm telling you that a hood is worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it. If that ammount is more than you care to pay for it, then you've been out-classed and out-spent.

We get your point, you can't get the OEM one anymore.... but you can get the same thing that is the same quality for $600....

Of course, I'm sure you know much more than the rest of us, right? None of us have bought/sold parts for GAs before.

Excuse me? I overpaid for parts? I sure didn't. My insurance company might have, but please, before you go making accusations, be sure you understand who paid for what. Thanks!

If you can't get the OEM one anymore, then you cannot get the same thing. You can, however, get an equivalent part, with unknown quality, for $600.

You know what I meant, but nice try trying to act like you're better than everyone.

@ the the fact that you have NO CLUE what GAs/parts are going for

And if somebody wants to pay $600 for a hood that I'm interested in, let them be idiots.

You clearly have no clue what they cost.... and the fact that you could have easily gotten your GA repaired and used the extra money for other things.

Have fun being clueless.

Funny, I see nothing but a lot of laughing and name calling, which typically are the hallmarks of someone who has nothing intelligent left to say. Also, no I do not know what you meant, seeing as how I failed Mind Reading 101.

Comments from the peanut gallery are welcome! What part of "unknown quality" would you like to discuss? Can you say you've dissected an OEM SC/T hood and an aftermarket SC/T hood, and found them to be exactly the same thing inside and out, made with the same strict manufacturing techniques, and under the same stringent quality assurance standards? Will both hold up the same in a front end accident?

Please elaborate on your experiences, oh great peanut gallery!

More name calling from the one with nothing intelligent left to say. Nice!

About "and the fact that you could have easily gotten your GA repaired and used the extra money for other things," excuse me? Once again your ignorance about my situation abounds! I paid my $500 deductible, my insurance paid to fix the rest. So, what the heck are you carrying on about?

OH YEAH, I get it now, people on the losing end of a discussion typically make up crap to try and hurt the other person's feelings. That's right. Well, good job at making this up! Either that, or you REALLY are confused and should go back and re-read anything I typed which makes you think I paid anything more than my insurance deductible, fool.

$600 is a ridiculous price for a USED hood. End of story.

Thread closed because you guys can't play nice. Start it up again and you're getting warning points- ALL of you. There's nothing "Jewish" about that.
