Remote Start Options

2004 GASE V6...wondering what kind of remote start i should look at that will be reliable at a good price. not too afraid to self install. pretty handy with electronics or most any DIY projects. found a Bulldog remote start at Sears for ~$70. better to have a professional stereo center install something like it with a lifetime warranty, parts and labor? thanks!

BTW, i have disabled the security/anti-theft system.

You should be able to buy a starter for you car around $200 installed. If you plan on adding the keyless entry to the remote start we usual charge an additional $30 for keyless and $25 for trunk.

Do yourself a favor pick up a unit by DEI it could be Viper, Python, Hornet, Boa ....Clifford etc.... very solid manufacturer have owned plenty in the past. I would avoid code alarm at all costs.....they were their own manufacturer until audiovox bought them out but b4 hand they had soooo many issues. Now that dei bought audiovox out they own code although DEI may have changed them for the better.....Compu star is another very high rated system.

just my $0.02

Autopage is making some pretty solid **** now too. Also if your looking for alittle bit cheaper of remote start you can look into the ultrastart there a good bang for the buck.

I got a pretty decent one from Ziebart, its Pursuit, made by audiovox i believe, but for some reason mine gets better signal with the remote starter than my brothers Viper does, so you could always look into it, 200 installed for just the remote start not sure if that includes keyless and such, or 350 i believe i paid for full security and starter.

I finally got one. I got the bulldog security RS1100. I work in the auto shop at Sears, and someone bought one we sell. After reading about installation and watching the DVD, he said F---that and returned it. Normally sold for $60...my boss gave it to me for only $25. I had to take it then! Install wasn't bad but time consuming! Mainly fumbling with the ignition wires and figuring out where and a good way to mount the unit. It seems quality wiring and plugs however, the remote it cheap. It seems fragile and the click switches are ok but for one. I'll have to see about swapping it for a replacement. I'd highly recommend buying the GM-6 T-harness. Could have saved me about two hours, but then it wouldn't be a remote start for $25! I read carefully everything a few times AND watch the DVD and it went well. Just pick the wrong brown wire ( 1 of 4 small wires) for the parking light flash--oops. Got that fixed without much time. Working great for now, and later I may try to hook up the remote door unlock/lock feature once I am no longer sore! Thanks for your imput, and we'll see how good this system is.
