888 is the luckiest combination of numbers in Chinese numerology , it is regarded as symbol of furtune and prosperty for thousand of years,
The roots of of this mystic belive are from the old chinese culture who beliveve that words that sounds the same as numbers bear the meaning of the word 8- sounds as the word that meant sudden fortune in chinese as opposite the number 4 sounds as death and so it unlucky number and many buildings in china dont have 4th flour!
the Olympic games in Beijing will be conducted on 2008.08.08 a date that form the combination 888.
all telephone, mobile apartments in china the include the mubers 8, 888 are very popular in china and sold in high pricess.
This popular belief is very similar to the jewish which sees in the number 18 that souds as “life” in hebrew as lucky number

Thanks

I originally wanted a Pontiac G8 GXP...as my original posting said.

But GM Canada decided not to bring any up here; or any 2009.5 versions of the G8 GT or G8 sedans for this year.

My car was built back in April of '08.

I got one of the last '09 G8 GT in Panther Black Metallic with Premium Package & Sunroof in Canada.
(I was trying for a GT with the Sport's package too; but they could not find me one in Canada.)

I know...it even threw me looking at it

Yes, it is hell fun driving; but getting an average of 15L per 100 km (15.6 mpg) is getting old.
(There is traffic everywhere, driving to/from work.)

The gas pedal is not connected via a cable.
But by drive by wire design, & the throttle responds is a little too aggressive driving in traffic.
Had to get use to feathering it, & following not too closely.

Yeah, I don't really like the tail lights either.
Not going to tint it; for safety reasons.
I even had the 3rd LED brake light cut out on the tint.

Some others have swapped out the GT tail lights for the base G8 sedan version tail lights.

I love my G8 GT (in absent of any GXP's in Canada).
It is big & it is fast.

But my average over the month in gasoline mileage is about 14.6L per 100 km (16 mpg); traffic sucks here.

The ground clearance is a b*tch.
The front bumper has only just over 6".
But the plastic air dam underneath only has 4"

The rear view vision sucks for parking backing in (+ I got 5% tint on the rear windows ).
I like to park backing in all the time.
So I got an aftermarket 4-sensor back-up kit on my rear bumper. It helps big time.

They did cheapened out on some things bring over the cars.

Like the paint job.
Owners on the G8 Board forum complain of it chipping easily.
So get a 3M Clear Bra on the front of it.

No spare tires on the GT or GXP.
& no run flat tires either.

They just give you a air pump & tire sealant.
For the GT you can order from Australia a 17" space saver spare & jack kit for $299 US (I received mine before I took delivery of my car ).
Note: The G8 sedan V6 spare tire is not the same; & won't clear the front GT brakes. The GT spare tire is not available in the US.
I got mine from: http://www.jhp.com.au/g8partsdirect/CurrentSpecials.htm

On the GXP: You need (IIRC) to get a full size 19" spare tire to clear the front Brembo brakes.

The trunk has plenty of room for a full size spare.
It was designed to hold a full size spare tire in the spare tire compartment of the trunk.

The only problem that I have had my car into the dealership was for:
The front passenger door was rubbing on the fender quarter panel.
The had to move/re-align the fender quater panel forward more, & touch up the paint chips.

PS: If you get a GT (& it isn't a 2009.5 version): make sure the ECM & TCM (yes, the transmission has it's own computer) has the lastest update done to it.

PSS: I love my G8 GT.
& am glad I got one of the last '09 G8 GT's in Canada, while I could (there were no boat shipments this year to Canada with the 2009.5 version GT's or GXP's)

Other oddities of the car:
You need to lock the car with the remote (or use the key in the driver's door key slot, which is the only key slot on the outside of the car).
You cannot lock all the doors using the lock button inside, for when you leave.
It is an "idiot" lock out feature.

The gasoline door locks with the doors.
So make sure your doors are unlocked when gas'ing up (this isn't mentioned in the manual).

The GXP manual tranny has the 1 to 4 skip shift 'feature'; which I am sure you would eliminate.

from the organizer, that is on a Corvette forum.
Quote:
...Corvette, Camaro, Cadillac, Durango and Porsche drivers meet up Thursday evenings for a cruise from Downsview to downtown Toronto for a Hot Dog.

I usually cruise in the back of the Corvettes.
But when it comes to parking, the organizer likes for me to park in the front (?).

The night that pic was taken by the organizer.
I was going to park in the parking lot across the street.

There have been at the cruises:
'10 Camaro SS
CTS-V
Shelby Cobra roadster.

Near Longwood Gardens. Funny thing happened when I showed up yesterday, the guy who put it together asked ME to park up in the very front ahead of the F430's.
