not a 100% thrilled that the header bolts ARP sells are stainless. stainless bolts in a aluminum head with heat cycling can cause problems if you ever need to remove them. what about OEM new bolts from GM? probably cheaper. what is the reason for changing them out? bad threads on the stock ones?

yeah just buy a set of stockers for about 30 bucks
just be VERY careful removing them from the head because I had two snap off about 4 threads deep into the head and it was a super b!tch to get them out

i got a set of stock like studs from napa years ago and used them when i put the headers on last year.
they are a little longer than the stock GM studs but it gives you more than enough stud to use. i don't remember the part number since it was years ago i bought them and another year or so after that i used them. they came in a plastic container and it contained the whole set. i don't remember paying a whole lot for them most likely under $20 |

are there any tricks for getting the stock exhaust manifold's bolts/studs out, without snapping off?
seems like as good of a time to ask as any. |

Yeah your right. That's what I meant but I started this post in the middle of the night. So I am looking for ARP header studs. Anyone have a opinion on which one's they rather use with aftermarket headers?

They arent ARP but they are locking and high quality Black oxide or stainless finish

Seriously though is there a easier way of getting the studs out without breaking them? Anyone have a idea they have used before?

not what i bought. they are the same exact thing as OEM studs just a tad longer. same style stud that is already in your head right now and same style bolt.

Yeah Mike at Milzy's is sending me a set of stainless steel bolts for them and at a very good price too. He said the studs are a waste of money and not worth using.

a good trick to taking header studs out is to tighten them a hair then loosent them. Also might look into purchasing a metric stud removal tool, it will waste the stud, but you have a good chance of getting it out without breaking it. it applys pressure to the entire shaft of the stud not just the tip.
