I'm willing to bet that the owner of the car did it for under $300 (maybe less) and just for fun. Why spend more when you can have some fun?

Also, @ a Grand Am owner making fun of Cavaliers.... not exactly a huge step up

One could make a valid argument that N-bodies are "junk".

Am I the only one that kinda gets why someone might do this? Maybe he had the parts laying around, got bored one weekend, bought a couple cases of beer, and had some fun making a car that (while unfortunate looking and not very practical) is probably a blast to drive. I sure wouldn't mind building something off the wall like that. Sometimes its more about the act of building the car than the actual finished product.

pretty much why i had the thought and will end up doing it, most likely next year sometime. i already have most if not all the parts lying around including a spare hood to cut up.

some time with the angle grinder on that UIM to clean it up and it won't look half bad.
