xenons are nothing more then a hologen bulb with blue die on the glass.

What's wrong with Hondas? IIRC, didn't you sht your money on a car you couldn't afford.. sell it, then buy a used civic for it's reliability and gas mileage?
OP, xenons suck. As poster above said.. they are just basic bulbs with a coating on the glass that actually decreases output. HID's are the brightest/most output you'll find. FWIW, there was a time when i messed around with HID's for a while..I had ran yellow hid's in the fogs. They are super bright and look good, but the output is crap.. much like HID's in stock housing. You cant really tell the colour from the shtty cell pics below but it should give you an idea of how bright they were ![]() ![]() I had purchased these below quite some time ago to replace stock fog lights and to match the projector headlights i have. The size is just about right. If you measure for yourself, you can find a decent set on ebay and do it yourself. Fogs are easier to retro than headlights. These will provide good output and visibility without blinding anyone else. HIDs in stock housing suck. Everyone says the output is better but from my experience...you get a brighter 'coloured' light but the output is terrible and scattered. ![]()

well dang in the picture on ebay, the lights looks pretty bright. I guess the pic could be edited. the bulbs are supposed to be 3000k though.
So yall are saying i should just get regular yellow HIDs then? nothing to do with xenon? |

For the fogs, yellow HIDs will work x1000 better than any "xenon" bulb.
For HIDs, I recommend these two sites: www.hidny.com www.ddmtuning.com

let's see, should I get real yellow fogs that actually light up the road, or just immitation yellow fog light covers that help me see less at night...boy what a decision to make.
check out the candle power store (its a yahoo store iirc), email them to see if they can get you any real 880 series fog light bulbs and if they can order some real OSRAM 9007s to replace the craptastic silverstar ultras you're probably thinking of getting.

Fog lights make little to no difference at night anyway.. so all i cared about was how they looked. and i think they look nice. But it would also be cool if they were even more yellow.

well ya, duh. the stock ones on GAs sucked. the point of fogs is to light the road 5-10 feet right in front of you, if you get high quality bulbs (HIDs do NOT belong in fog light housings EVER), they actually will be effective.

K values mean nothing for output really, its just the "color" of the light. 3000 will be yellow, 4000 or so will be more white, 6000 is more blue, 8 and up goes purple etc
880 or 885, 885 wil be brighter as it is a higher wattage bulb

Not entirely.... 4300-5000 has the "best" light output. Anything beyond 8k and you'll lose a noticeable amount of output.

That's because it will leave the human eye's visible spectrum. The actual output is roughly the same. But for all practical purposes you're correct.

Technically, yes, its about the same. But its not really about that.... its about what headlights are for.... to see the road. What color allows the best visibility? Probably the one that manufacturers use from the factory in their HIDs.... 4300 (ish)

The hottest temp (in my opinion) with HIDs you should go is 6000K.
My light output is pretty much identical to that of 4300-5000K, with a hint of blue.

If you want HID, then the best visibility will come in projector style housing.
