tinting reflectors

So ive been thinking about tinting my bottom reverse lights, and my fog lights. Then i thought about maybe tinting my reflector too. How "illegal" would this be and would it cause any problems? Or is there any way to make my stock headlights have a black housing? These might be dumb questions but Im new to this stuff.

I had all of them tinted and I never got pulled over for it. However, I live in KY, so basically anything goes. Might want to check your local traffic laws. Not sure how anal the cops are in VA.

About the headlights, I am sure there is some mod you can do (such as sticking the headlight in the over, melting the glue, and switching out the housing) but it's a PITA. Best choice is to find someone with these. I happen to have some for sale, if you're interested. Just send me a message.

TrueGreen tinted his reflectors on his pair of headlights hes modifying, I dont think that you would have a problem with it, but you might not want to tint it that dark, or if you do, get a brighter bulb.

check my thread on hereModding my 1.2 Gen projectors
on GAOC Modding my 1.2 gen clear corner projectors
also have pics on my Cardomain

in most cases as long as the tint is light enough that the reflector is seen when a light source shines onto it, you "should" be fine, but like stated before check your local laws first to make sure

In texas your not suppose to tint your lights at all. I would assume any state with a state inspection would be the same way.

I might tint the tails in the future but this is the first time tinting anything im just going to do smaller things first. Plus I think the laws here are pretty tough on that stuff

It only says things about window tint. Is it the same numbers for lights? I would think theyd be a little different

heres a test I just thought of... may or may not work

get some thick plastic wrap (the kind they use to wrap stuff on pallets with)
wrap it over your head lights, getting it as smooth as possible. then spray the tint and see how you like it, if not you just pull the plastic wrap off. and bam back to stock lights

Those look really nice on the silver car, but i dont know how good theyd look on red. I dont think i want to tint the entire headlight either, just the reflector.
