Id be curious to see some before and after dyno results given that you had a dyno done before the build of course. Always wondered how much you could benefit from this.

To drive and pay for a dyno where Im at would have been around $250...

I AM going to get a post-build Dyno soon. Would have been nice to see the Gain from the comp upper and lower, with magnaflow cat and muffler. its not too much but numbers would have showed

I drive to Stockton yesterday, Its just about 300 miles round trip, Half freeway driving, half hill driving.
I wouldn't say I was really easy nor hard on the throttle, But I didnt have to fuel up on the way home! I made it all 300 miles on a fill-up.
About 5 minutes before we got home my gas light come on.
So Id say 2-4 MPG improvement on first tank of gas.

Before I was averaging about 250-270 miles a tank.

Nice man....I was getting about 240-260 per tank on mine before all the work was done. 2-4mpg is a size-able improvement. I'm kind of curious to see what mine will be getting....

I noticed that the car has to search less for power when I need it,
and the higher RPM's are way smoother. Maybe cause of the heads alone or cause of the TCE lifter springs.

Minor problem, stupid mistake, but plenty fixable.
I have a small oil leak right at the ridge of the block on BOTH sides.....
So apparently even though the 3500 gasket set has the new ridge gasket. I drilled for it and installed it properly.
I FAILED to put RTV silicone at the edge of the ridge gasket against the heads.
I plan on tearing down in the next 3 days to fixxxxx... Whoo...

Yep, you still need to put a little bit of rtv in the corners where the gaskets meet. Actually I still recommend putting a thin layer on both sides of the middle gasket just to be safe, but that may be overkill.

I always put a thin line of RTV down the middle of the orange valley gasket and never had a problem.

I feel for you man, it sucks tearing down something that you thought you had done and out of the way. I have been there on more than one occasion and it is frusterating. The good thing is, I bet it will never happen again in another build. We live and we learn!

I cant wait to get into it, It is the smallest leak, but now I choose where to park cause I dont want to have people tell me I have a leak. About a quarter size if it sits for like 8+ hrs. Every now and then a small drop gets on the exhaust also.
It is such an easy fix. But 2 hours or wrenching before putting it back together. Im guessing 5 hours, shooting for 4.

Ok I planned on doing it today, but instead of getting off early we called in more concrete. Were ahead on the job schedule now, but there is a 60% chance of rain tomorrow.
So this probably happening this weekend.

Some pics of what keeps me away from my car...

Are you going to reuse the torque to yield bolts? Why did you drill holes in the block for the nubs instead of cutting them off? I try to keep all my metal shavings away from my lifter valley

Drilling the ridge was no problem after Heli-coiling 3 rocker threads with the heads on the motor. -->Misfiring #3 After LIM swap
I actually cut about half the tabs off so I didnt have to drill 5/8" into my block. All the shavings from the block got caught on the magnetized drill bit.
I will clean and re-loctite all the LIM bolt threads, All the others should be ok.

LIM Bolts are as well. Thats why they sell replacements unlike UIM bolts.

The new bolts are, but only because they come with a pre-applied loctite that doesn't work twice if you reinstall the bolts. They are not like the head bolts where after you torque them once they aren't good anymore.

I personally never use those new LIM bolts. I always clean and re-use the old bolts with new red loctite applied. Done my own LIM probably half a dozen times and probably half a dozen more on other peoples cars. Not a leak yet.

Yup, same. My LIM bolts are original from 1999.
