Gauge install

got oil temp, pressure, tranny temp gauges. the 2 temp ones didnt come with the temp senders, so i had to order them from summit but now i have them and im ready to install them all into my car.

Right now i just have the oil pressure sender into the stock oil pressure switch just temperately because i ordered a oil filter relocation kit and i got it yesterday.

This is how im installing my gauges

well first of all i work at napa and have access to some T-fittings and adapters book and got bunch of them so everything will fit.

I will put the oil pressure switch and oil temp on the t-fittings, and then trans temp will just go to normal spot.

heres some pictures. ill have everything completely installed Saturday and everything working

I bought some red LEDS, and put them in after i took this picture

part of oil relocation kit

all the T-fittings, adapters and the oil temp sender, oil pressure will go on right when i install this

yeah trans will be easy im just gonna do them all at once, all my interior lights are blue, window switches hvac, hvac knobs etc. everything but the speedo, so i decided to just get red leds so theirs a little matching going on, and i changed my head-unit color to red instead of blue

Oil Pressure: Remove stock sensor, replace with aftermarket sender. Wire.

If my engine gets THAT low on oil or my car flips over, I'm getting a new engine either way, screw the stock sender.

Yeah plus you have a gauge reading you pressure so you would know when it would drop, do you have a oil temp sender too?

reason why i didnt T off the stock sender is because what aaron said

"However there are two main points I'd like to make. 1) since the oil at that point is just pressurized but not circulating, all you are really going to get is a static temp reading (mainly heat soak off the block), and not much of the actual change in oil temps."

Oil temp is important, but I haven't seen anyone else wire one up in a GA. Someone probably has, but I haven't seen it.

I have oil pressure and an Interceptor Scan Gauge. Accurate intake air temp, coolant temp, knock, timing advance, lots of cool stuff. You can even wire other aftermarket sending units to them and make an analog setting to meter whatever you want from those sending units (boost, oil pressure, oil temps). All in one gauge

Nice, well my oil temp should work fine since its getting a reading right from the oil filter location

I have oil temp on my car.

Also, if you remove the stock oil pressure switch you may get a DTC code in the PCM. I've seen it happen on certain years. I think the PCM is programmed to look for it, because when you turn the ignition on but haven't started the engine yet, it knows that there should be no pressure and the switch should be closed, so it checks to see if the circuit is grounded. If it's not, it sets a code.

I drilled and tapped some holes in the sub-frame down on the lower right corner behind the bumper. It kind sits below the horns, and you can reach it easy from underneath. There are probably a couple different places you could put it though.

When I put gauges on my Monte Carlo I put a T in where the stock oil pressure switch goes. Then just ran the stock switch and the aftermarket sender. It all fit neatly behind the starter.

You can still use a T fitting on the block for both the pressure switch and the oil pressure sender. You shouldn't have the oil temp sensor there since there is no oil circulation there and it won't get an accurate reading. It should be in one of those T's on the block adapter. There will still be room to put a T fitting on the block port.
