Caliper braket, aluminum? (frozen slider pin)

Simple question, is the caliper bracket aluminum? Stupid question, I know...but on the right side, a slider pin froze up, and dragged the pad. I just wanted to know if it's alright to heat up the bracket to get the old pin out...

I'm pretty sure the brackets themselves are not aluminum as I've beaten on them with a hammer before and barely dented them. The pins themselves are a much weaker material (probably aluminum.)

They are aluminum I'm pretty sure.

I've got some extras in the garage. Give me a couple bucks and one is yours.

With, or without pins? I have a brand new set lying around, just no rubber gromets for them.

Just looked at em. Boots are still good and pins slide.

10 bucks + shipping for both?

Calipers with em 10 bucks more.

I also have brand new rear brake hardware that is just laying around if your interested.

EDIT:

The brackets are iron.

Lots of miles. They were removed to do the F-Body upgrade so they were still in perfect working order.

They are painted orange...but I'm sure you can fix that :P

The caliper brackets are not aluminum. I'm pretty sure they are cast iron and the slider bolt is steel. You should be able to heat it up with a torch, but you might damage the dust boot in doing so. That is also why I always put some anti-seize on the threads of those bolts.

Not sure I'd put anti seize on the bolts. They actually come with a lock tite on them if you buy the GM OEM brake kit. You can buy the sliders seperate anyways if you can't get the bolts out. If you service them on a regular basis this should bot become a problem.

What happened, or at least by the looks of it...the dust boot got stuck inside, and the grease dried out. I lubed them up three months ago when I changed them, so who knows.

Need brackets, plz.
