My TOG's I can get to everything with a socket and extension, but I'm also using locking header bolts and not the stock stud/nut. I find them a lot easier to work with. I have to use 1/4" drive and a 3/8" 12pt socket, but you don't want/need to use a lot of force with the aluminum heads so that is fine.

There is only one bolt on the front that I can only get with a box wrench. I only have a deep 12pt socket and haven't tried a short socket yet but I think that would work too. The real pain is getting in there with a small allen wrench to tighten the set screws on the bolts! It's not too bad on the top fronts or on the rears, but the bottom front three can be tough to get to with the radiator, wiring, and A/C lines in the way.

If your going for performance regardless with a grand am... and gonna dish out that kind of money... just go boost, SC or turbo... you're a 1/4 if not half way there already money-wise.

1) If you are "going SC" you still really need the headers, so $1K is the 1/4 to 1/2 starting point,
2) That would mean you could get a SC for $1K (can't do that), or
3) On your "1/4 the way there" b.s., that would be $4K+, total for the SC with headers, which is no longer "that kind of money,"
4) "just go boost"? --

1) *nod* GTP guys have to go with headers when they get to a 3.2 pulley. Your going to have to have headers with any kind of supercharger on a 60deg.
2)HERP DERP M90?
3)Just another reason to go turbo, you have to buy headers anyway
4)You know, those electric things you put in your intake duct!

Seriously Zuki, gtfo these forums.

Ok so let me get this straight... you'd rather dish out the cash for a SC. ok. great.

When just about every person who went turbo surpassed numbers on a completely stock engine and better times... just saying... and who the **** said you needed headers for boost? log manifolds and a crossover with 2.5-3" dp and you have a low 14 second high 13 second grand am with a completely stock engine. so how about you go cry that you spent more money on your grand am then most guys that went turbo did to get where they are.

You do for SC, and you lumped SC and turbo builds together in your other gibberish post.

Not without tons of KR, and not with a SC, especially. Mid to high 14s most likely.

Were talking about available bolt-on performance here, not what somebody can fabricate for themselves.

Again, THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH

Can a mod clean up this thread, please
