Really? Then what would be the wholesale (GrandAm headers) price if somebody bought 5? How about 10?

And in the case of somebody buying 10, how long would it take you to complete that order, being just one guy?

A sudden increase in demand won't really solve any problems at this point, in fact it will still take you months to build the 3800 market. It's a special-order custom situation any way you look at it, with the difference that the customer needn't leave his car there while you build them.

Would you consider doing just the front and rear bank, w/ collector on front and w/o collector on back? And if so, any quantity price break.

10 sets takes about the same time as 4 sets. its just means its worth more to me to invest non stop time into them. you would have to stand by during the building to understand how much faster it goes for every set after the one intial set. there is a certain rhythm you can get into doing multiple sets at a time.

as for the 3800 market. hes already planted in the market, and already has the offers to buy on the table for a few of the parts that we are about to produce. things like inter-cooler kits, and ice tanks for the higher HP SC setups. these are things we have been building and dabbling in for a few years just mike never really took a production approach because he was focused on one off projects here in the shop. we also have a number of 3800 cars here that are owned by mike or friends that give us access to them when needed. like right now i have two front cut clips setup with 3800's and a 02 monte SS thats here for turbo kit development. that kit is getting fixtured and will be ready to mass produce as soon as its tested on car and provides us with a few 500+ HP passes on the rollers.

as for making just partial headers nah, its really not worth the time, the rear collector and crossover are literally the least time consuming parts to building them . once i get to that point the hard labor has been done.

Jon

The Milzy headers have been on my Grand Am for a couple weeks now. The fit was pretty good. The quality is excellent. The appearance is great! One of the best features is the flanges with the V-band clamps, very solid stuff, good looking, and holds things together right, and will take a lot of force. The coating looks like pretty good quality stuff, I’d be interested in knowing if it was actually Jet-Hot or a big brand name of coating like that?

I had one factory manifold stud break off on the front head that we had to weld a nut to it in order to get it out, and on the back head the top 3 factory manifold studs felt the same way so we just left them in the head and put the nuts back on the original factory studs, for all the others I used Percy’s 12 point black oxide split lock header bolts, and they worked very nice. The header gaskets provided may not look like much but the compressible metal material of their make up I think will help them do a good job and actually be pretty good gaskets. My headers were ordered with the stainless downpipe with no cat, and although the pipe is great quality stainless material, mine was one of the ones missing an O2 bung. So we tig welded one in place near the top of the down pipe pointing to the drivers side. Now the factory O2 wire harness will not reach that far so you have to get or make some kind of an extension to the factory O2 wire harness in order to reach the new O2 bung location. (which talking with Mike he will be providing, as well as the O2 bung itself which he already provided) Since the header install I have been intermittently getting the P0132 code, and since I have an Areoforce scan gauge I can immediately clear the code, and in watching my O2 voltage output on the gauge the O2 sensor will immediately return to normal operation which means things are working the way they should and my wide band O2 gauge concurs that fact, then after a week or so under varied driving condition it’ll throw the code again, so any help with this would be greatly appreciated??? Thank you. I have the HP tuners software and was able to reprogram the OBDII for the obvious changes, like the absence of an EGR valve now, etc. We had to zip tie a few lines and hoses to make sure they would stay well away from the headers in certain areas. I put titanium header wrap on the crossover pipe only, as it is the closest piece to many things in the engine bay, such as the throttle body and the air cleaner box, and it looks great and stays cool. One of the things I personally didn’t like was that the Ram Air option air box will not fit with these headers. My vehicle is a 2003 with the Ram Air option, and lately I have been using an open K&N cone filter on the end of the MAF sensor in summers and going back to the factory Ram Air air cleaner box in winters, so this won’t make any difference for me in summers but now for winter I went to a local auto wrecker and picked up a bottom half of a non-Ram Air air cleaner box to use for winter and it fits right in there, very close fit but it fits right in there nicely. (my guess is they didn’t try the fitment of these headers with the Ram Air optioned air box in place). The ‘seat-of-the-pants’ dyno felt like an immediate huge difference and increase in power so much so that it felt like a totally different car, and the sound is very nice as well with my Borla cat back system. I will not be doing any actual dyno tests, but will be on the track again early next spring, and it’s too bad that it’s too late in the season to have made a pass here after the install yet this fall, my previous best ¼ time was 15.14 sec., so in spring I’ll see how that can compare ET wise I guess. I knew before hand that I had a cracked rear factory exhaust manifold so I needed something and when these became available it was an easy choice for the best possible solution as well as upgrade, and you won’t find anything better out there. Removing some of the originally factory exhaust piping and heat shields were actually some of the worst parts of this and that wasn’t that bad. And the rear transmission mount was in the way of installing the rear header so that had to be removed a couple times. Have a lot of tools at your disposal and a car lift really helped in the aid of this install as well. The fellow that helped me is a mechanic for the city works shop here and I know him from the local race track here, and he took a couple photos and said he’d send them to me but I don’t have them as of yet. And he said that of all the headers he’s installed these were some of the best fitting for a custom application and that the quality (the welds, the pipe, the coating, especially the flanges) was very nice.

I got a couple O2 sensor codes with the TOGs as well after install, I would have to check to see exactly which ones. I set them to "no error reported," since there were no drivability issues. Not ideal, but nothing to worry about, in my opinion. Seems to be a by-product of the extra flow, or change from the heat retention of the stock manifolds and muffler system.

Edit: here are the DTC settings I use now

http://i493.photobucket.com/albums/r...h01/o2DTCs.jpg

Of course, check for intermittant wiring to rule that out first.

your P0132 code has the same setting as mine currently does...'MIL on second error'. I had thought it might be a product of the extra exhaust flow, or the way the flow was now routed, or the temperature of the exhaust flow, but I don't know. In watching the O2 voltage output on my Aeroforce scan gauge (and comparing it to my wideband O2 gauge readings) there are times when the voltage readings are fluctuating normally and other times where the voltage is up around 950mv and just stays there no matter what the driving condition, ..and, under either a rich, or normal condition, the wide band gauge agrees with what the voltage output of the narrow band is showing. and since I can reset the code through the Aeroforce scan gauge as soon as it appears and the O2 sensor will immediately then return to perfectly normal operation I was thinking of changing the setting for that code to 'MIL on first error' so I could have a chance to reset that code even sooner after the conditions arose to cause the code to appear and therefore also return to, and run in, normal O2 operation a larger percent of the time all together. But there has to be a better fix than that????? so to simply ignore the P0132 code all together wouldn't be good because once you're in a rich condition you'll be using a lot more fuel and either not know it or be able to do anything about it, because the O2 voltage output could get into a high reading and stay there, like the condition that causes the code to be thrown, and you wouldn't be alerted of it, and you can't reset a code that hasn't happened. still there has to be a solution??

i don't have Milzy headers but when i got a set of TOG headers for my car it woke it right up and felt like a whole new beast. everything else was the same the only thing that changed was the change of manifolds to headers.

Look at those clearances

Also, no need to wrap the crossover, it will probably make the coating go quicker.

Yes I had thought that too, but wanted to keep things as cool as possible close to the throttle body,.. and very close to a few other components too

Everything was bone stock except for:

-180 degree thermostat
-MSD DIS-4 ignition module
-MSD twin tower coil packs
-MSD 8.5mm super conductor spark plug wires
-NGK TR6-IX iridium spark plugs, gapped to 0.045”
-K&N open cone air filter installed right on the end of the MAF for a cold air intake, (some might consider that to be a warm air intake)
-Borla cat back exhaust
-a variable “constant” resistor in the intake air temperature sensor
-Casper’s electronics manual electric fan control
-Billet aluminum upper engine mount
-24.5x8-15 Mickey Thompson full drag slicks on the front
-KYB AGX 4 way adjustable struts on all 4 corners
-Power slot brake rotors all around
-Raybestos advance technology super premium brake pads all around
-Goodridge stainless steel brake lines all around
-Milzy modified heater tube with throttle body passage delete
-mild custom OBDII tune installed for consistancy

-some of those mods listed won't do much, if anything, to lower ET's.
-there are other mods, like gauges, etc., that aren't listed.
-that run was also made at a near sea-level track.
-a majority of my better runs this past season were in the 15.3 sec. range.
(for other reasons I had a lot of bad runs this past season too, but as long as it was consistant I could work with it, which often times it isn't always that either)
-my goal is to keep it eligible for NHRA Stock class competition.

-Another recent change has been to 28# injectors, a TCE adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and Milzy Billet Aluminum front transmission mount.

Wish I could make a run right now, but will have to wait 'till early spring to find out.
