I hate to say it but I think it is a croc of **** that PFYC takes 7.50 from a deposit of the group buy doesn't go through. I understand credit card charges and refunds...but seriously? We are buying these bars at retail, not discounted. They (most likely) get 5 sets of bars below retail because we foot the bill for 20 sets. As mentioned by locoman they will be able to hold onto those 5 sets and sell them for whatever price they want...and if we don't come through with the group buy we all get stuck for the credit card refunds and transaction fees?

Cost of doing business PFYC...

I agree, which is one reason lets not let the group buy die

They have skin in the game...they have set this all up on our word. 7.50 of a deposit is a tiny price to pay. Thats like a pack of cigs.... This buy has big time support from the alero guys and several on here. In reality only around 10 sets need to be spoke for from grand am guys. 5 of which are already spoken for in less than a week. When people start getting tax refunds back this buy will fill up quick. There are several people that are considering buying multiple sets also and I believe that will come in to play as we get closer to 20.

the reason is because they wont get that money back if you bail. their account gets a figure minus fees. when they refund you they refund your 150 including those fees at the same time, but that comes out of PFYCs pocket because paypal is sneaky. or the CC processor keeps it. thats just part of doing business. you are lucky they are even refundable deposits on a very custom part. if it was me i wouldn't even refund you unless you sold your spot to another buyer. even then i would make sure the other buyer was paying as i am refunding. if they have even a few people bail or half pay thy have to spend their own money finishing the order, on parts that may not even sell once they are paid for.

I think what he is saying is if there isnt at least 20 people that put deposit down they WONT put in the order and you will get your money back, minus 5% if that is the case they are not obligated to buy any bars, they haven't put an order in for it.

I suspect the credit card people will still take their 3% or so but that means pfyc keeps 2% for their trouble

PFYC gets charged probably something like 3% to take the money and 2% to give it back. Yeah credit card companies suck.

If PFYC doesn't have faith in the community enough to come through and complete the group buy, why do it at all? They are going to profit from us if it goes through.

There are lots of other options to collecting money for a group buy like wepay.com 3.5% transaction fee. How about next time we contact a manufacturer and get clearance, then do something like wepay.com?

and that matters how now? this is how its goin down. Pfyc is doing us a favor by lending creadability to the buy...and the adminstration and distribution. PROFIT is not a dirty word...it has fed far more children than the government or charity ever has. I would have gave 500.for a new set of speedbuilt bars and have been looking for years.

If PFYC didn't have faith in this community then they wouldn't be sponsors for this site. Do you forget that they had to waste their time contacting the manufacturer, creating a preorder page, periodically updating that preorder page with the number of people who have already preordered and not to mention buying 5 of the sway bars themselves to take some of the stress off of us. They've got to eat too man, get over it. Don't agree to something knowing the risks and then complain about it right after.

Besides at the steady rate that everything is going at, it looks like this will happen.

Nobody ever said you had to buy the bars from PFYC.
Maybe this'll be the last time I do the legwork for something like this.....
I'll say it again - PFYC has sold these in the past; they fit great and work great.
After the product being out of production for many years, I think it speaks volumes for PFYC that they carried the ball on their end and are willing to follow through on another order.
Good luck getting anyone else to do that.

they will get charged their percentage and when they refund they will loose all of that on the refund not a partial percentage. i know, i do do this for a living man. the last time i took a 1400.00 payment for some APEX-i parts i had to refund the buyers because there was no possible way to get the items in less then 4 months.
i paid roughly 32.00 in CC fees. Then i lost 14.00 because of the 1% the yahoo store software charged me for the sale. so that deal cost me 46$ after all was said and done.

also keeping a little money for the hassle of setting all this up and it falling through is understandable. this whole deal is costing them money even if it falls through. they have to pay an employee probably 15$ an hour to do all the leg work and communications for the deal. they have to setup the deal with the manufacture which probably will consume roughly 3-6 hours of time. emailing the forum members that are purchasing which will probably consume 3 hours or so over the course of the deal. then deal with setting up the website to accept the product and down paypments thats 30mins-1 hour of time. they then have to keep track of the invoices and refunds. all these actions involve a human that is on payroll. thats the cost of doing business and being a business you pass that on to the consumer so that you may be around another year to do more business.

you call it the cost of doing business, i call it the cost of purchasing. don t be a bitch and back out once you laid out money. and you wont lose your 10 bucks.... honestly if you can not afford 279.00 for a single car part yous a lame and need a better job.

Jon, I was saying this because if the group buy does not go through, then we are still charged the 7.50. If I go in on nthus group buy I won't be backing out.

Props to PFYC and Matt for getting the group buy together, I was just saying there should be a better way to refund the money if it doesn't go through.

Seriously, you are complaining about 7.50? Why do you even own a car?

i know the feeling of having every penny count... i am in limbo on the buy because as mentioned if they hit 20 before the 31st, they will be sending it off to be built... there were upwards of 30 people who want in on this and 10 might lose out as a result... I have to wait until the 24th for pay pal to clear my bank transfer so I can get in on it... Trevor has offered to step in for me if it gets too close with I appreciate immensly... I am hoping it does not come to that... I hope they wait until the 31st as stated just to give everyone the chance to get in on it... If we get 20 or 30 sets, either way PFYC will make their money and it gives us the full time without worrying on missing out because we could not come up with the funds before 20 sets are ordered...
