Even if it is 8 years old. with only 14 miles on the clock, it's pratically new. With all due respect, prove me wrong by finding something else as nice for the same price.

that cut wire doesn't matter....i wasn't thinking....3400 harness is getting swapped over along with a bunch of other stuff. Got the subframe/engine dropped yesterday. Next thing to do is swap over all the accessories. I'm gonna be using the 3400 upper intake for now (shaving off the 3400 sfi though since it wont be a 3400
. With work the next couple days i'm not gonna be able to get over there till thursday...then we have the weekend to finish it. I'm trying to get pics sent to my email from my phone but it doesn't wanna cooperate. |

Thank you sir. Can't wait to get this in...i miss my car. I'm driving an 05 Xterra which certainly isn't a bad vehicle to be driving while mine is down....but the gas sucks
![]() Also, it kind of sucks i have to use the 3400 upper/my old TB cause i'm losing a lot power doing that. I wanna eventually have the 3500 upper and lower port&polished with a 62mm TB....but i have to wait ![]() |

Started swapping parts over to the 3500 today. Fuel rail/injectors are in. When taking the 3500 rail off the ends of 3 of the injectors fell into the LIM....so we had to get a wire and fish them out....took about 40 min but we didn't wanna have to it off, reseal it...too much extra work for 3 little plastic pieces. Swapped over the thermo housing, engine mount, grinded off the 3400 sfi on the UIM and were gonna polish it so it looks nice under there
Lots of grinding....we tried having a little fun and mixing the aluminum shavings with some rust (but the rust chunks weren't fine enough) to make thermite.... ....didn't wanna light. Anyways....we were gonna swap over the harmonic balancer but it was getting dark. That, along with many other things will get done saturday. Hopefully sunday were dropping it in. My 3400 uim has all kinds of oil on the sides....PCV valve was ****ed. . Gotta clean that and the TB out good. OH YEA....the lower right bolt on the headers....PITA....had to wrench it out but for a while we were struggling to get it loose. It's in such a tight spot....we weren't even mad cause we felt bad for the guy who had to put them on (i took it to a shop years ago to get them installed). Finally got it after hammering on it a little to "break it free". Overall good day....coming along nicely. |

Given the time you spent grinding on the 3400 UIM, you could have easily used the 3500 UIM instead if you got the MMS swap kit. Adding the vacuum port is about the only work needed and everything else is plug-N-play after that. I guess I don't understand the value add of wasting so much time on using the 3400 UIM that offers lower performance over the 3500 UIM.

Keep up the good work Bill !!! Now as far as the statement about the 3500 manifold. I am on the fence about using one. I have heard/read that they have a tendency to lean out on number 5/6 pistons. So before I use one I will have to do more research Sorry to thread jack. Bill. Post pics please !!!

You will get it figured out eventually !! And I will see if I can find those posts about the differences in those 2 manifolds. And Paul and a few guys should be able to help with the tuning end I am still a noob and have only done a tried a few things with DHP Pay for a password ??!! I wouldn't either.

Dude, just STFU already. ![]() When everyone on 60degreev6 first started doing this swap, back before you'd even heard of this engine, they had problems with the FPR touching the manifold and had to grind out a tiny notch in the manifold to keep it from touching. There are obviously going to be differences from engine to engine in tolerances and such so maybe yours fit on there.... maybe it fits but it's touching, but it shouldn't. Looks pretty close to me. You forget I've had this car and followed this scene about 4 times longer than you have. Think next time before you open your crap hole and reply with a little less attitude and a little more respect unless you want points.

It certainly didn't clear my FPR without extra work (spacers, grinding, unbolting the fuel rail and pulling hard).

That's exactly what I'm saying. There's a little bit of play in the position of the fuel rails and in the position of the UIM, and probably a little variation in the thickness of the casting on some manifolds. Some may just fit... some may not. Either way, even if it will fit you don't want the FPR actually touching the mani, so if it's close you need to sand/grind some clearance on the neck of the mani. Doesn't usually take much. I've seen the pics of it done.

No more grinding on the upper....just gonna slap it on there, **** it. No patience for it. Today we swapped over the crank pulley.....took us quite a while cause the teeth on his puller kept slipping but we got it. We put the pulley from the 3400 on the 5 and then we realized....****....the sensor....
....and we were just talking about it like 5 min before about how we gotta clean it. So....took it off again....wanted to bang my head against the wall. Tranny is un bolted....tomorrow were taking the 34 out and dropping the 35 in. by thursday it should be running. (mon tues wed we cant work on it). Kind of annoyed its not getting done this weekend but w/e. |
