yeah it will just mount to the engine im sure, im in the process of getting a 6 speed in my alero from a g6, that tranny mounts right up to my 3.4L just have to make some custom mounts and make room for a shifter and couple other things.
How much longer before you get your car back? I am looking forward to how your car turns out( but i bet not as much as you!)

ya i believe you are correct but im not 100% positive and the flywheel is the same for all 2.8/3.1/2.2OHV. if you search www.car-parts.com for a N-body 5spd axle it also lists teh 3x00/auto axle as a option, ive noticed this on a few sites but still trying to confirm

in my area i know of 2 successful F23 Getrags on a 3400/3500 hybrid and a full 3500 in 3rd gen J-bodys, both are slightly modded and doing just great

not to say the 282 isn't a good or better choice or anything just from my research theres more work involved in the 282 swap and custom axles are needed, atleast i only found info of a 86ish fiero axle working but thats just one side

So you can ACTUALLY take G6's tranny and drop it in a 3400?
My friend told me about that but I never actually seen/heard anyone try/do it.

Would love to see the outcome!

The F40 was used on the LZ9, which is a 60*V6 like the LA1. It's been done before.

Their is a person on youtube who swap a f40 in his 1989 Turbo 3800 Buick T-type.

The only downside is the F40 is not a very strong trans in stock form.

I was thinking something like vw vr6. A rear wheel drive would be sick. I was checking out the Hyundai genesis but they're too new and out of my price range. Any other reccomendations?

used 350Z i think you can get them in the 10-15K range.
awesome 3.5L v6 that can make some decent power NA or turbo. handle decent and can be made into a really good track car.

I want to do it but I'd need something else to drive first and a car tent. I'm gonna check around junkyards for old berettas or cavs and see if they've got one. It doesn't seem so hard just time consuming. Once you have the right parts it should be just putting it back together, making some adjustments and weeding out the codes. Where would you mount the new cluth pedal and master cyl.? What about the shifter linkage?

this has been done for a couple of months. i have about 3000 miles on it so far and i used my factory cv on the passenger side with a intermediate shaft. then it was a mix and match cv on the driver side between a outer g6 axle and old centruy inner.

Nice, thats good info. I've seen a lot of la1/getrag z24s,fieros and berettas on youtube. Might not sell, just look for another smaller 5 speed 4 cylinder.Something good on gas.

yes, its been done before, theres a how-to one here who did it to his GA. no aleros have had the swap yet.

about the comment it not being very strong. actually, a guy with a 700hp fiero has it and holds fine with all the power. so i dont think ill have a problem honestly.

Consider the source...

The f40 has been put behind some pretty stout engines in swaps.. I have not heard of a single one geting broke yet.
