I believe that larger number of american car parts are made in america. For foreign cars, parts would be considered made in other country but assembled in america.

How did you find a thread from 2007??? this thread is pretty much obsolete now. GM has filed bankruptcy and has since recovered, Chrysler is now italian owned, and hyundai and Kia are actually good cars. Oh, and the whole Prius recall as well as the Japanese earthquake that hurt the Japanese car makers...

what a difference a few (5) years makes in the car world.

I didnt give my input originally, but one thing that is missed is that when you buy American you are supporting the Unions where-as if you buy foreign you are not supporting union. I still buy American though because the foreigner car makers dont make vehicles with enough room for me.
