Cold Air Intake

Hey guys, I recently got a cold air intake and installed it today, after I installed it went on a test run.. And result where not what I expected. the filter makes a whistling sound, its faint but I can hear it outside of cab, and after I give it some throttle and let off it whistles even louder and goes back to normal, dont know if this is normal or not for a CAI, but I doubt it seeing I also have a loss in power. I dont know if its the filter than came in the kit I got off ebay cheap or what? But I did everything it says here http://evicerator.com/cars/grandam/cai.html and made sure everything is tight! Any ideas on whats up?

The whistling is normal but could be more pronounced with the filter you have. Lack of throttle response is probably the filter also. I know the Ebay cai kit I got the filter felt like it was causing it to bog down. I swapped it out with a foam filter I had laying around and it made a big difference.

The whistling is normal. You removed all those restrictive airbox resonators, so you're going to hear the air being sucked in.

As said, you probably have a crap filter. K&N filters are good, I love the AEM dryflow filters.

I haz question.

Would putting a K&N airbox filter into your airbox, replacing the OEM paper filter, do much?

I just don't want to route a CAI down the bumper to have it get dirty n sht from rain.

I don't think so because the stock air box is restricting enough air that's trying to come through idk you should try it and see what you get.

It'll help a little, but not much as a CAI.

Believe it or not the filter in the fender well stays fairly clean.

All air restrictions in fender are gone just got ram air setup an airbox. Doesn't bog like my CAI did an it's better throttle response. With deeper sound still whistles small bit

I'd have to agree..

You probably just had a ****ty filter with that cai. Did you get a REAL cold air? or did you buy some dryer tubing, run it to the fender, and stick an ebay filter on the end?

So where exactly does the air that goes into the CAI come from?

I see some people cut out the "gills" on the front GT bumpers to let "more" air go into the CAI. Thats why I thought it would get dirty quickly. But from those photos it looks like thats not required.

Something tells me you didn't buy an actual CAI. K&N doesn't make one for the GA.
