So is it just the vent openings that are smaller or the scoops itself? I am getting inserts for this hood so just hope they fit

Im not really sure Mike, the grills you are getting are designed and matched to fit the openings on the OEM Sc/t hood... The openings on this hood do look slightly smaller such as the ones on the SD hood? So idk.

I already paid but anyone have a side by side pic to show the difference they are talking about? Thanks! Doesn't have to be exact but would like it to look close

Ok not a big deal if not, it's just going to be whether or not I can use some stainless grill inserts I just bought or not. If not I guess they are up for sale

I'm not trying to sway your decision to not buy it. I just think the smaller vents look retarded

Difference:

OEM:

Aftermarket:

Yeah im not trying to be an ass or anything but I agree with Tanner, Im not quite sure why the aftermarket company would make those nostrils look like that, it was stupid on there part! This isnt an OEM hood, these hoods are basically a hit or a miss between the OEM and aftermarket... also Im not sold on the fitting of these, Ive seen a few aftermarket sc/t hoods in person and the fitting is wierd, you either end up with a gap between the front bumper which also throws the line up with the fenders off, or you end up with a gap at the wiper housing and mirrors. So idk. just my insight.

So...is the scoop and the buldges the same between hoods and it's just the opening size that's different?

Like if I pull up next to a factory ram air car, would the only difference be the opening and then would that be something a dremel would fix?

Look at the pictures. Pretty much self-explanatory.

Sorry I don't have a computer so I can't make our small details. (using my cell phone) thanks for the help though. Just wondering if I'm missing something bigger here. I can see the insert is bigger but I wonder if that can be opened up to factory size?

Either way, my grand am will look a lot better!

the hood is coming directly from GM.
i have a customer coming over this week that has a complete SC-T conversion from PFYC and we car going to measure the hood scoops. i also have measurements coming from RKSport on there hood and i have a factory Ram air hood that i am going to get the measurments for.

also i have sold and installed this hood on a lot of Grand Ams and we sell them to a lot of Auto Body shops in So-Cal and they have never had any complaints. if there is a difference from the SC-T hood and the Ram Air that i didn't know about i am sorry to everyone but i didn't put these up here to make money off you guys i did this because i hate trying to find **** for my car and cant ever find Anything or it is only on the EAST coast and know one wants to ship it. I love helping people out with anything i can and that is the ONLY reason i carry these hoods.

they are all brand new in the box.
Never had a problem with fitment.
We sell about 10 Hoods retail and wholesale a month and NEVER any complaints.

No one here is complaining. We're just saying that is NOT OEM. I'm not going to give you measurements when you can CLEARLY see on my picture posted above that the vents are bigger.

Anybody here who has the OEM SC/T hood can confirm with me.

Here's where the aftermarket hood would have to be cut to match OEM. Marked in red. Pretty much were the creases are is where it would need to be cut. It almost looks like they just filled parts of the vents in.

As the buyer for the hood, this will all be irrelevant if it's just the opening as I intend to open the scoops completely. My main concern was if the hood was shaped different or the scoops weren't as "tall" or whatever which seems like everything else is the same from what the hoods current owner and I have noticed.

Completely opening the scoops wouldn't do anything at all. If anything it would just make your engine bay dirtier.

Also the OEM scoops are also probably taller then aftermarket, never looked into the height since the length popped out to my eye more.

All non-OEM is going to be different from the OEM because they use the OEM as "blanks" for their molds. If they get rid of the OEM and they use the non-OEM as the blank, things are going to lose a bit of their shape. They may start having cracks and other weird fits going on.
