So, a clean 04 GTO, M6, with 28k miles on it... what are you waiting for? At the prices you're getting if you're sick with buyers remorse in a year you can just turn around and private sell it and put money in your pocket.

I'm with these guys, you need comp and collision, liability isn't going to help you out much if you cause an accident, run off the road, hit a deer, etc.

i dunno...i wouldnt buy with the intention of reselling it. The 04 is really not desirable. People just compare the hp differences between the 04 and 05, but its not just hp. The LS2 is leaps and bounds better than the LS1. Its much smoother and more sophisticated. GM was stupid to put out an LS1 for 1 year only...they created a "runt" in the litter. This is similar to the SSR that had a 5.3L for a couple of years, and then started using the LS2. People dont want the slower, older version.

Agree - it's all in the eye of the beholder. And, like I said before, if they never did the 05/06 revision, people would have still loved this car in it's LS1, scoopless, unrevised IRS form anyways.

The price is really right on this. And while I agree that I wouldn't buy it just to resell it, should that need come up, at the price/miles we're talking the buyer is gonna be in good shape all the way with this thing, as long as he takes good care of it. Given the near stalker tendencies we're hearing about over this car, I bet it gets washed, waxed and pampered all the time.

On a side note, I hear on TV all the time that any prolonged erection lasting 4 hours or more should seek immediate medical attention. Every time a Cialis commercial comes on, I just look at my wife, and tell her maybe I need some immediate spousal attention...

Im gonna do a little more saving... the sticker price at the dealer is listed at 16,900 while on autotrader its listed at 15,500? Ive personally got them down to 14,000 I think I can go lower! I want to atleast get a down payment of 3000 Im halfway there I really hope no one bites on it between now and them? Im guessing alot of people dont know about the autotrader price? Or its just the fact that its an 04... If not I may be forced into selling the grand am... I want something that hasnt been beat to **** mileage wise, I love my grand am just as much as anyone else on here but I really want something that can be kept for a lifetime while still holding its value and heritage! Im not sure the Grand Am will fall into that category 30 to 40 years from now? It wouldnt even be possible to keep it going for that long?

SO you are debating selling the GA for maybe $3k, adding that to $3k that you hope to have, and putting that $6k down on a $14k 10 year old car, and then making payments on that? I understand heritage, trust me I do, but why not save the GA (assuming its paid off) for a few years. Save up $8-10k, and go buy a real heritage car, like a 68-70 GTO, 67-69 camaro, chevelle, corvette...something thats already got heritage, and keep the GA as a daily driver.

I might be crazy, but didnt say that you could get the car for $12k?

Yeah selling the grand am really makes no sense... It would be a private sale if I do sell, and no with the 12k... Thats really where I would like to work them down to, 13k would be the most I would dish out! I just gotta keep saving, I guess the goal for me is to get the payments below $300 a month...

Edit... Never rmind I guess I did say they called me for 12k? What the hell, alright I guess Im gonna be calling them back tomorrow! There has been so much bickering that I forgot what price Was even on the table! Bad management on my part sorry!

Have you wondered if there is any issues with the car that they're going as low as 12k on a 28,000 mile car?

Gonna get to drive it tomorrow! Its been so long since I've drove manual hopefully I didnt forget how? as far as I know there are no problems... no cosmetic damage, no interior damage... this car is pretty sound other than some minor curb rash on the wheels? I havent been this stoked since I bought the Grand Am which was my first car! I know its nothing to really get excited for compared to some of the other rides on here, but for me its a great start.

listen for a tick. The LS1s get a tick to them when low octane fuel has been used on 'em. Dont let the power excite you to a level where you ignore the bad stuff.

I went back looking for where you said $12k and I couldnt find it, so I thought I was going crazy. Im not sure that I would pass on it for that price and mileage either..assuming it all checks out. You need to carfax it and get as much info as possible. Look for paint overspray, repaired panels, paint drips (under the car), rear tire residue from burn outs, and so on.

#1 thing to remember when looking at ANY car: don't get so excited that you start overlooking things because you *want* it. There will ALWAYS be another GTO out there, even ones with low miles, because there will ALWAYS be people that are sick of looking at it just sitting in their garage.

Treat it like the business deal that it is, and don't let your emotions get in the way.

alright thanks guys... Im not gonna let my emotions force me into buying this car, Im a very picky person and when looking at a car I really do take every flaw into account, after all whats the point of having a nice car when its no longer nice? The last time I looked at it was in perfect sunlight and I couldnt spot any flaws in the paint, no chips, no dings, nothing... however the car was super filthy so it was difficult to tell what is really there? Im gonna check for the tire residue because well I think the car has brand new tires on it, so that could be a sign of wear and tear on the old ones...

How'd the test drive turn out? You'd wanna look for inner wear on the tires, those cars had (have) a strut rub problem basically from the factory. How'd it shift, if you did drive it?

also, there was a problem with the fuel rail cover (engine cover) where it rubs on the fuel line and could cause a fire. make sure that the fuel line is not worn through.
