YES!!! thank god!

ok i had a differnt issue on each side.

the drivers side was simple one i realized what the issue was. if you buy a brake caliper from autozone the bleeder valve is open. i felt like a moron for not seeing that, but it was down river from the banjo bolt, and dripped off of it. tighted it up, it was sealed.

the passengers side was a little more tricky. looking at the caliper where the banjo bolt goes in i noticed the surface has a high spot. spent about 3 mins sanding it down, and same thing it sealed right up.

i dont think i have ever been more happy to have my car in working order again. i really thought i was have to buy 2 stock calipers, and call it good.

goes to show when you get so frustrated with something you just want to throw what ever is in your hand as hard as you can and then kill someone, that coming back when you calm down and looking at things with a clear head really helps. i was seeing red yesterday, today am very happy. thanks again for every ones feedback.

and the big question: does it stop better?

YES!!! pedal feel is really differnt, i have to use more pedal to get them to kick in. when you drive a car for 100k thats a big change. but when you want to really brake hard, my god! it stops on a dime. its probably the biggest change from any 1 mod i have done. . . .well other then subs.

and now for some pics

Your bleed screw needs to be at the top, the stock location on the f-body is on the car center side, while as you can see in our cars it is nose side. The way to do it is to flip the calipers around, f-body Right becomes grand am left caliper.

Okay, I didn't feel like reading through 17 pages of thread, but anyway will this mod work with stock 16inch star GT wheels?

F body calipers will, Vette ones won't. If you have the "chrome" wheels, you'll have to trim a little of the plastic.

You have to understand that at least 80% of questions asked on this forum can be solved by searching and/or reading threads... In the case of this thread, I was able to locate the answer to your question by just going back a couple pages.

Some people react to people asking simple questions differently, but look at it from the other side: in the 8.5 years I've been on here, there are some questions I've seen asked literally HUNDREDS of times, and they always have answers that are simple to find with a little searching.

Yeah... us long timers get tired of seeing and answering the same questions OVER and OVER...

Like "where's the best place to buy an intake?", "will a CAI suck water?", "what is the stock exhaust piping size?", and my personal favorite "can I put a supercharged 3800 in my grand am".

My reasoning was not just about having the same questions being asked over and over, but also to prevent several more questions regarding the same topic when all the information you could want is there.

To be fair there is a lot of different info in this thread. Vette calipers fit, they don't fit, camaro calipers work but only on this rim but not that one. I was under the impression that vette calipers would work until a few months ago. I can also understand not wanting to read through so many pages. Hell he will probably get confused like I was and end up posting the same thing any way.

With that being said the same questions over and over does get old

From what I understood from this thread is you can only do the big corvette brake upgrade on the fronts, even so it would be not pointless but not necessary to do it on the rears since the front brakes are used alot more. Still IMO it looks funny with big brakes in the front and then in the rear you have some dinky ones.

Also the corvette brakes and calipers will fit on the 5 spoke chromes if you sand down the chrome molding a little bit so it doesn't hit the caliper.

Case and point. It was my understanding the vette calipers would not fit even if you sanded them down because the fins are either bigger or in a different location, I can't remember which.

But yeah this is exactly what I'm talking about as far as confusion. Maybe a new thread should be started about the truths on what will and will not work with what rims. The question becomes is there anyone who knows for sure, because I doubt any of us have done different brake jobs on our car.

The vette and camaro calipers are the same physical size but the vette has raised (fins) on the top that can contact most stock 16's. A few people have been able (with slight modification for some) to use stock 16's alero is one example where nothing was required.

Really though 17 or 18 inch rim is the best way to ensure no contact problem.
