that's all i was curious about.

all the ways i have seen this done was with a aluminum plated tig welded to the UIM with a hole cut in the UIM obviously.

if i had a tig welder i'd rock this. being that i don't daily drive my car and still have the stock hood along with the CF SC/T hood.. plus i have sheet metal to make a cowl.

I agree to an extent.

A manual has essentially the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. Not really much to go wrong unless things just aren't lined up properly or your syncros are bad. The conveniences: easier to jump start if battery is dead, better gas mileage in general, and better overall engine control, by using gears to slow down instead of brakes.

Automatics have the convenience of driving only to be offset by all the other possible things to possibly go wrong like the torque converter, and the issues of getting stuck in a gear, etc. there is a lot more parts that could go wrong, but how often it happens usually is a direct effect of neglect unless it is a bonefish defect from the factory or something.

Manuals can take a beating in most cases.

I guess it's all relevant to what you want. I like the automatic because shifting gets annoying.

Yeah, in most cases a manual transmission actually has much less to go wrong with them. They are normally lighter, much less complicated, easier to rebuild, and have less parasitic drag so they put more power to the wheels and get better gas mileage. It's only recently that they have started making some 6 speed (or more) automatics for fwd and rwd that are so good they can equal a manual in parasitic loss and gas mileage. They still weigh a little more, but now they are becoming so strong and so well programmed that they can actually shift better and be faster than a manual.

In older cars though a manual still rules. Biggest difference is the auto has a wet multi-plate clutch setup inside that is lubricated and the computer controls the shifts so they shouldn't burn out under normal use. A manual with an external dry clutch being controlled by a human can get burned out if the human doesn't know how to drive it.

I can't imagine driving a stick in traffic every day... what a pain in the ass. If it's a weekend car or something, for sure, but when it's pouring rain and you're sitting on the interstate for over an hour, never going faster than 15mph? Kill me.

If you drive a stick long enough, you get used to it.

Unless you have a meglaclutch.

What's a meglaclutch? It's the clutch that is so stiff your left leg looks like it belongs to the Incredible Hulk. In hulk form. In 15mph stuff you just get out and push.

So in other words your leg ends up looking like Quagmire's arm after he discovers internet porn.

DON'T BE A PU$$Y.

Now you just sound like you're bitching. I've done Los Angeles traffic and it wasn't as bad as people even realize. If anything you pay more attention while driving like you should be doing in the first place.
