at what weight to they consider a wheel heavy? is there such a thing as too light?

these are questions I've wondered about, and always forget to ask, so answer me

well, is there rims that are so light they're just cheap and fragile? or is that more brand vs brand?

if it's as simple as "lighter is better", hell, i can even understand that!

Generally, lighter is better for acceleration, braking, life of you suspension parts, handling, etc. However, its important for the wheels to be strong... which is why the really expensive wheels are light AND strong.

For example, my 18x8 077's were 30 lbs... and my 18x8.5 XXR's were 22lbs. Thats a LOT of weight savings considering they were larger wheels. You'll see some chrome wheels that are 35+lbs.

Two of the sets I've had....

These got some hate, but I loved them.

The CLASSIC 5-spoke.

if I had to have one set or the other, I think I'd do the first one.

but I am not a fan of either set. But you're on the right track, 5 spokes generally are the easiest to match up and look good to these cars

Hola Austin from Iowa. stop stalking me :P

With all this talk why don't you guru's find me a good lightweight/strong/notsohardonthewallet/ good looking rim for a GA. I tend to like the five spokes better but I'm open here.

All black is always a good look.

When the wheels were still black ice colored:

Going through my photobucket that far, I found pics of my friend's GASE. I miss that car.

To save the time:
My wheels are ROH Adrenalins: 17x8, +35 offset
The wheels on the GASE are TSW Trackstars, 17x7.5, +38 offset

077s look fantastic on any color other than silver and white. A little on the heavy side, though.

You ever hear that saying "fast, cheap, or reliable... pick two." ?

You can apply something similar to wheels. You aren't going to find strong, light, good looking, AND cheap together. Nothing like that exists. Anything light and cheap is going to be either not strong, or not good looking. Anything strong and cheap is not going to be light. And pretty much ANY wheel that is strong and light is not going to be cheap, because it has to be forged to accomplish that and the manufacturing process is not cheap.
