Also, if you're thinking of HIDs, spend time on HIDPlanet.

I'll try and remember to take a picture of my current setup so show the cutoff they have... even without HID's, it shows what a difference projector housings make. (I had to switch back to halogen projectors/bulbs, damn bi-xenon from Saab keeps flickering on one side, and I'm getting sick of trying to figure out where the system is getting mixed up)

What about OEM reflector housings w/HIDs? late model Acura RLs and TL/CLs, Toyota Avalons and Nissan Altimas (V6 only) are setup like that.

That's why I said late model. After 03 the TL was redesigned and got projectors.

From what I understand the Acura's, Lexus', some Prius', and other cars that have reflector headlights but also HIDs from factory are designed with bulbs that are blacked out in some spots to eliminate the light scatter and/or there housing is designed for them also. They're called D2R bulbs or something,

D2s i believe. you plan on doing a retro, acura tsx clear lens or s2k projectors are the best out there.

D2S bulbs are only to be used with projectors man. That's what the S and R represent. S being standard, or for projector use, and R being reflector. If you plan on doing a retrofit, you can definitely find MUCH better projectors than the TSX, they are overpriced and don't even perform that well compared to other OEM and even some aftermarket projectors. |

The higher kelvin output you go, the less visibility you have. 4300K-4500K is the best output for visibility (hence why OEM ones are that temp). You actually see less with your 8000K because you want "blue".

yes, i know that. but until you have seen it in person, its actually very nice. 8k was my limit. its 10x better then stock bulbs. and didnt want the nasty yellow anymore/white anymore. plus they match my "foglights" quite well. and since the 2 years i have owned them, i have had no problems or complaints about them.

I have 20% all around and Lifted trucks piss me off so much. Tilting my mirror helps but then you still have the side views blinding you.

well even though they are 8000k they still produce better light then stock bulbs, even though the light is not spread out evenly 100% i can still see very well with them. plus they just look nice when they are on

Haha. I'm loving this thread. I'll clean up the insides of my lenses soon and post pictures of my retro that someone asked for a while back.
