thats what I thought. I was thinking getting a blue backed overlay and painting the needles silver, but it wasn't anything more than a passing thought, not sure how they would light up. I was thinking paint on the face and rear, leave the sides open for light, kinda make a shadow effect at night on there. one of them things, i'll get a donor cluster and tear into it one of these days maybe

![]() oh, yea need to find a donor console first, ain't tearing mine up just to experiment

Just go to superbrightleds and get replacement LED'S. They swap right into the factory sockets. You'll need some new bases too.

well I didnt strip the cluster just swapped the stock bulbs for LED and if you paint the needles just do the back like stock and they should glow blue at night and be silver in the day.
but ya just tell the guys over at blackcat you'll be using blue LED as a light source and they'll make it to work. also tell them if you want the accent line to light up. as they make it to not light unless you ask.....they were actually unsure if it would even light on mine

Yeah I was surprised at how easy it was to swap the lights. I still have to paint my needles, had the paint for months but haven't gotten around to it.
Best way to recal the needles is take a picture of them before you remove them

Also, on the subject of even lighting, last I'd seen, leds swapped in place of stock bulbs gave "hot spots" of light, and it didn't light evenly. The wife (seriously really) has o.c.d. and something like that may actually cause her to stare at it and ponder why, and then thats where the part of my car hitting something comes into play.. So, how even is the light output? That pic of your gauges is nothing more than replacement leds in the stock bulb housings?

ya, he used the strip in the HVAC panel. I don't remember seeing him make a thread about switching the lighting in the cluster.

I read that, I'm wondering if it was someone else that wired in the strip then, and maybe me bringing it up jogs his memory
![]() It's not a big deal, I was about to do some digging in past threads tho, as it's going to drive me crazy now ![]()

but yes I used replacement LEDs for the stock bulbs, the way the gauge is made it directs the light to be used evenly there a few other pics in the black cat thread of mine showing the green lights Quote:

ya follow stuff in there for the bulb size you need for the smaller...really only one is needed for the upper section of the Tach....i went over board and replaced my high beam and turn signal indicators as well...[/quote]
Ya, I went overboard also. I got new lights for everything, I did green for clusters lights, red for turn signals, and blue for high beam indicator. I just didn't want everything to be green. Geuess I need something to break up the color. Quote:

I have a few favorited, and since you bring that up, the upper part of the blackcat overlay is just clear then, so we can put any color up there we want? or will it just be whatever illumination color you pick?

if your talking about the accenting ring it'll glow the color of your LED unless you go the white LED route them im sure you could have the line pink and the gauges purple with lime green numbers.....LOL

Not sure about that, I'm just clearing my stock one ATM, but I think blackcatcustoms will do just about any thing you want. TruGreen would know better than me.

I mean the highbeam indicator, turn signals, check engine, service vehicle, all the dummy lights, does the new overlay keep the colors the same? or is it just whatever ya want?
edit, This is for Mr Jim we posted at the same time kz

the turn siganls are green....high beam blueish/green.....all the dummy lights are clear and they light with the factory LEDs so how your dummy lights are stock is how they glow after the BBC switch
